As someone already pointed out the bet is not for him to be shot but for him not to finish his term which would cover impeachment, resignation, death, end of the world....

Actually, just thinking further on this Reagan was shot but lived so if this happened the bet would be a loser. Good enough for anyone who bets on somebody dying, deserve to lose their money IMO
