Yeah, we need some pics to get the old banter going
    "he's a freak",
"no he's not, he looks great",
"Why would you do that to yourself"
"I bet you are a lardo sitting at home"
    ;)

Not unless he trained to fight, and even then he'd be as agile as a plank of wood.

He wouldn't be able to catch me, I'd just dance around him until he becomes tired, which I'd say wouldn't take long, he probably has no stamina, then when he starts puffing and panting, I'd smash his head in with right hook and uppercut combos. Then everyone would be looking at me in awe and asking who is that skinny bloke who beat up the musclebound freak.

3 Things make good punch power, Speed, weight and technique.
unless he trains he wont have good technique, he would more than likely be quite slow and he does have weight on his side, i'd say his punch would be nothing too impressive, sure it may hurt a bit!

either way he still looks stupid!

Weightlifters/bodybuilders can have explosive strength. I remember seeing some huge bulgarian olympic weightlifter sprinting like an olympic sprinter over 60metres.
One half decent punch from such a big guy could easily knock anyone out. A martial artist could probably easily swipe him down though.

me either, but too just assume that he has no fighting ability is wrong, i know plenty of guys that have never trained in MA and are still pretty handy

A trained fighter would probably skip around him with kicks and punches until they managed to hurt him. However if he managed to grab you and pin you to the ground I think it might turn nasty with his sheer weight and the force he could exert.

All you really need to do is catch the fat bas*ard in off-season while he's puffing on the smokes - let's see how fighting fit he is then:pac: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEa6xgUyKVI

Speed and technique are the biggest factors in a punch, i'd rather throw 2 of my own punches with my own power rather than one with his.

I reckon i could take him. Seriously. Any punch he throws even a white belt would see coming (probably takes him half and hour to tense all those muscles for a punch :P), and i can't see him lifting his leg above his waist. As someone else said, as agile as a piece of wood.

Anybody who says you need to train to punch is talking nonsense. There's plenty of people who've never trained a day in thier lives who'd take most martial artists to the cleaners.
As for marcus ruhl,i cant see how you could hurt the cnunt..he's 20 stone of hard muscle and his nads would've shrivelled so much from steroid use you wouldnt even be able to kick him in the plums.

    Lol... post of the week.

Is that the MA equivalent of people claiming they squat 300kg??

He wouldnt' be near as explosive as an oly lifter. Not even close.

The thing guys talking about kicking his ass need to remember his that he's just sooooo fcuking dense. You would literally need to be standing against him to get a shot in at his head. It's be like fighting two Bob Sapps (I know his skill is bruuutal) but even the best guys seem to have a hard time landing clean blows on him.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,494 ✭✭✭ronbyrne2005

Maybe we could raise a pot and get MArkus to fight the best MMA guy on boards? I agree with degsy though, in your general fight outside pub/nightclub anyone that size can do massive damage at close range. In a structured organised fight a martial artisit would likely beat him but from swiping him first as you aint gonna get many head punches in and those that land wont do much damage unless flush on his jaw.

I am not a fighter myself but I can throw a punch or 2, Marus R would be the type of guy that if he got to land a punch on ya it would be lights out. His stamina would not be as good as a fighter of course but all it takes is one punch to land the best of fighters on their back. I have met him a couple of times and he is ok, but too be honest I would not going running to buy sup's just to have a photo taken with him

Sorry what? So an average smoh on the street could take a 2nd or 3rd degree blackbelt to the "cleaners"? Anyone who doesn't train to punch will either a) Be terribly slow or b) break their 2 smaller knuckles thus leaving them incapacitated for the rest of the fight.

Met the man today with a few of my friends very nice guy.

We had just missed it but apparently the reps there told us just before we came in about 10 little kid knackers ran into the shop and started attacking him like hitting him and **** obviously it didnt have any effect on him but i'd say he was pissed then just as we were leaving this little one came in pushed his way to the front of the cue and started telling Markus if he didn't show him his muscle he'd box him in fairness to Markus he just laughed and told the kid he needs to stop taking so much sugar but to be honest i'd say it was very annoying for him

Em, this guy is 300lbs+ of pure solid muscle. And while he won't have much stamina he will have crazy strength and at least reasonable speed - I dont buy this stuff about all massive guys being super slow, Ive seen a bodybuilder on youtube sprint 25 metres and jump clean over the roof of a car. He gets one punch in on you or manages to grap hold of you and it is game over without question. If you were in the octagon with him he would take you down to the canvas with his 300lbs+ frame and rip your arms off.

I wish I could remember the title of it but I saw some martial arts fight on the internet where two top guys, I cant remember the names but they would be well known to anyone who even half follows mma/martial arts, and they get thick with each other during the fight and what happened...? The high kicks and graceful technique went out the window and they went at it like two pikeys outside a chipper. Martial arts in general doesnt have much application when it comes to real world fighting. The only disciplines I rate in real world situations are MMA/boxing/wrestling, all this muay thai, karate sh*t is not worth a crap in a real fight.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2fNPW9OgmY that it? These two are Kung Fu masters and they look like beginners in an MMA class.

This thread is GREAT. It's made my night. We have a few mat monsters in our gym, 120kgs+ and without exception they get owned by the 65kgs skilled guys with 1 year+ experience, until they get some technique of their own.

Personally I'd rob that big guy's lunch money, give him a wedgie and pour his milk down the back of his pants. Hopefully I'd get away before he told his wife though.

How many of those 120kg guys are under 6 foot tho?

Ruhl's like 5'11 and 135kg of mostly muscle. You genuinely can't comprehend that sort of size without seeing it for yourself. He may look big, and you may know some big guys, but pro bodybuilders are just on the next level of size even compared the top amateurs. And Ruhl's on another level to top bodybuilders. THat should give people some idea of his sheer mass.

I obviously don't have a great knowledge of any fighting disciplines, but I would hazard a guess that unless you're a very skilled fighter, you're not gonna take down and beat someone of Markus's size as easily as everyone here would seem to think.

I love the weekend warriors coming out of the closet telling us all how they have a bit of fight training and they'd whup his ass.

I know there's some members here who could genuinely handle themselves quite well, but i doubt the vast majority would get close enough to him to land some blows without getting KTFO.

Nah, its not that one but its kind of similar in content hehe. Wish I could remember the one I saw, it looked kind of recent too. Just goes to show that in a real fight you are wasting your time with the fancy martial arts, MMA is whats needed.

    Hanley,
The only way to know for sure is to have a scientific test of like for like. I have a 17 year old bantam who is 61kgs, you're about 100 odd right? Mostly muskles. Well you get a vest like Ruhls and go shopping and I'll send my lad after you and if you survive more than 5 minutes then I'll concede. To make it interesting you can dress someone up as your wife, probably best to use a man in this case.

We could record it for Tomorrow's World... and then send it back in time to them obviously.
