Had one many years ago, same colour, a really great car. Pity this one is so new!!

I had one a good few years ago too and it was a really nice car. That one above must be one of the last. RE the mileage, I'd nearly believe it. It does look immaculate, pictures tell a different story and all that but if you look closely there aren't any stone chips on the front end, steering wheel and gear knob look unworn from what I can see, but one thing that sticks out to me is that the owner hasn't got any photos looking directly at the cockpit, i/e possibly hiding any wear they may show.
At that price I'd be asking for a fresh NCT on it, its eligible to be booked in early.

Two identical cars , one is 83 and vintage tax, the other 90 and normal tax, €2k difference for an older car :(
The older one is an Estate. It is twice the car in my book in comparison with an equivalent 4-door saloon ;).

Wouldn't conform to the German 'purity law' regarding modding classics but I think 'upgrades' always make a classic safer/more reliable

Spain seems to have 'H' classic plates now as well
An additional series exists for historic vehicles with the prefix H followed by four numbers and four letters, making a nine digit plate which can be difficult to fit onto some historic vehicles

The Spanish H plates for classics have a H followed by four numerals and three letters. Still looks odd on a classic though.

Na half that, it's a four door.

  • Registered Users Posts: 568 ✭✭✭CianDon

And thats 10K Sterling :-O Even at the height of the celtic tiger when KP's were being dragged outta fields and selling for silly money would a 4 door have been worth half of that. About 2.5/3 would be a decent price to offer

Four doors just don't seem to get the love, I suppose it's because they were more common back in the day, also not as sporty.

S'pose it depends on yer outlook but this 'thing' shows how skewed this country is -

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/vintagecars-for-sale/celica-diesel-van/7157372

Most other countries have reasonable tax systems but here some see the 'salvation' in registering/converting anything into a van and slapping a 'daysel' in

5020ZH ?? Something's wrong with this one

Any thoughts on this? €2k, but very expensive to tax for another 4 years.

You haven't heard? You can't tax a vehicle as a commercial vehicle and use it for any social, domestic or pleasure purposes. This has been the case for years. I think it's fair to assume that anyone buying a classic vehicle is doing so for 'social, domestic or pleasure purposes', no?

Seriously, a clampdown on the abuse of commercial motor tax was in all the papers a while back. I'm surprised you missed it.

So, yeah, €1080 per year is expensive.

Believed 11,600 miles from new Registration No: ZP1047 (Eire) Chassis No: 47160943 Built on 16 December 1953, this very early 86'' Series One is just one of 47 Rover factory-built fire tenders produced and the fourth of a batch of five similar vehicles despatched from the factory in January 1954. Two of its 'sisters' were sent to Siam, one to New Zealand and one to Burma. Chassis '943' was supplied through agents Lincoln & Nolan of Dublin, registered 21 January 1954 as ZP1047 and entered service with the Electricity Supply Board (ESB), Ballyshannon, Ireland. Understood to have been decommissioned in 1987, time has been very kind to the Land Rover and its life in the ESB obviously very gentle. Today the Land Rover remains in exceptionally original condition and the incredibly low 11,600 recorded miles is believed to be genuine from new. The chassis and bulkhead are exceptional, the original engine and gearbox perform superbly and it is a joy to drive. With the exception of an older repaint, the vehicle is highly original throughout. The Land Rover retains many very rare features including an Iso-Speedic engine governor and oil cooler, although the function of the pumps and equipment has not recently been tested! Paperwork includes the vehicle's Irish RF12 Registration Book and copy extracts from the Land Rover production register. Please note: The Land Rover is MoT exempt and will qualify for free (Historic) road tax. At the time of sale, the vehicle remains registered with its Irish registration ZP1047. If remaining within the UK, the new owner will be required to register the Land Rover with HMRC's online NOVA system within fourteen days. UK registration is a simple exercise and we will be pleased to advise any potential purchasers of the process. See the short film clip at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Kt9PFF3rCA
