First off Treasure are great, Not the best by any means, they have sold out a bit especially with the Gba Games they put out.

Guardian heroes advance what a piece of garbage
    Silpheed exactly
Gunstar super heroes another piece of garbage.

To be honest im alot more excited on Behemoth's games coming out then treasure's, I mean Treasure is good but under the direction of Sega?:(

And edge sure edge is a bit biased, but there Original Retro Series 10 Magazines around 2003-2004 are amazing some of the best Retro information there is.

I thought the Behemoths output has been utter crud. I went out of my way and imported Alien Hominid and thought it was one of the worst Contra clones I've ever played. I breezed through it without seeing the game over screen and between the unimaginative bosses and levels it wasn't much fun at all. Castle Crashers is a similar story. I didn't think much of the demo and when I did play the game in a mates that was singing it's praise it felt like a very poor clone of streets of rage or any of the CPS1 scrolling fighters. I'd rather fire up an emulator with simpsons arcade or Alien vs. Predator since they are much better games.

Anyway Sega are only publishing treasures games not supervising them and they have released some great games under Sega already, Astro boy being one. They may not be the best or dependable but they are a team that have created the best run and gunner and 3 of the greatest shmups ever in Gradius V, Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga and one of the greatest rail shooters in Sin and Punishment not to mention their output under Konami before the formation of Treasure so it's no wonder I get a little excited.

Run and Gun/shooters that goes to Nazca/Irem

    In The hunt
    Metal slug

Treasure are Good but they are not the best, ikaruga is good though there are better like Otocky for example by Nintendo

Well Metal Slug is arguably better but for me Gunstar Heroes edges it.

I never said Ikaruga was the best, it's one of the best though. However Radiant Silvergun and Gradius V are the best shmups ever :)

    Never heard of Otocky?

Otocky Is made by MR. lwai from Electroplankton fame and is a famicom Disk only game its a musical shooter, one of the best reasons to get a famicom disk system well that and Mario 2.

    FYP
Okay that looks weird. I really don't think it could beat Gradius V though.

I really, really loved Gradius V. It was fantastic. The only criticism I'd have is the levels are so long. I was able to play it for 30 or 40 minutes before I got to stage 5 and 6 where I kept dying. I'd have liked if they'd kept it more arcadey in structure, instead of like a console shmup so I didn't have to cruise through all the easier levels for ages before I made a few stupid mistakes and died. It's kind of hard to play a game as stressful as a shmup for more than 45 minutes because of the concentration.

There are so many different styles of shmup it tends to come down to personal preference which ones best. I personally like Psikyos Strikers 1945: II the best. But lots of people swear by Cave. I wouldn't know because I haven't played the more recent ones. I'm not quite hardcore enough to get into PCB collecting and none of our ****ty Irish arcades will buy anything that isn't Tekken, a lightgun or driving game.

Treasure are bloody wonderful but they're not necessarily better at making games in each genre as the specialist developers who work only within that genre. I still love them to bits though.

In The Hunt, my fave shooter ever!
Well, that and Geometry Wars 2
    and
    Tempest 2000
    and
    Galaga
    and
R-Type Final (Ok, I just put that in to upset Retrogamer again!)
    and
    my fave of all
Rez, my PS2 and DC copies are great but Rez HD gets the prize for being, well, HD!

Retrogamer (the mag) are advertising a cool CD format of all their back issues, just the thing for you Retrogamer (the person).

And, I still love Fire Warrior, anyone else play it?
That and ColdWinter two of the most under-rated FPS's out there, got tons of fun from both, Coldwinter being the closest thing to singleplayer GoldenEye I have yet to play.

    LOL!
Ah man, you really should have done that. Classic stuff. :D

I was going to buy a PCB of that and Gunforce 2 a little while back. Thought that seeing as I haven't played them at all, I might as well pop this NAZCA cherry on the real deal!

I thought that the Ps2 port was awful, so awful that it should be burnt on a fire with E.T on atari.

I myself have had it on Saturn and Mvs, both really nice one thing i love about the saturn version is that you can get the soundtrack from the CD.

I remember trying to get a cab sent from the states over to London would of cost a arm and a leg + 1 giant sea turtle to travel the thing, And was gonna lay down the cash for a real Cab, and the guy couldn't find the PCB.
    Still looking for one though.
