You need a ticket to get into the SU, it'll be €20 for a guest ticket. And it'll cost just shy of about €50 for a taxi to town at that time.

Yep, if you're going to go to the bar ex one of yer mates who goes to NUIM will have to get you a ticket and sign you in as a guest... Not sure if there's any tickets left but they'll know themselves if you ask them.

Sure the banters always mighty in Maynooth... ;) Good mix of everyone, you'll always find someone to chat to

Not entirely sure about the taxis.... I've heard anywhere between 25 and 50 euro depending on the driver you get and how busy they are. Don't bother gettin the taxis that just pull up on the streets, they can and do overcharge you. (I should only be charged 15euro where I live and I've had those muppets try and charge me 25 before)

I wonder how the headphone discos going... too hungover and broke to go out tonight :(

Taxis are not allowed to charge you more than the fare on the meter. When you get into a taxi make sure the driver turns on the meter.. take the number on the roof sign or on yellow sticker on windscreen.. please report any drivers who "Quote" fares... this is totally illegal and really pisses me off.. these guys just give the rest of us a bad name. Should be plenty of taxis in Maynooth for the next couple of nights. Also don't forget it's like going for a drink: you choose the pub - you can also choose the taxi! You don't have to go with the first one in the queue!!! Enjoy Rag Week and don't allow any taxi driver ruin it by ripping you off!:D

On Monday, some friends got a taxi from Caulfields to Cluainn Aobhainn (sp?). They started talking to each other about how much it would be, one saying its the usual 6e.

The driver butts in saying how its 16e. Of course, they all start complaining, to which he replies: "If you don't like it, get out". So they did - over half way to their destination without paying a penny :)

Sweet. It's happened plenty of times to me in Maynooth that you get some **** saying it'll be 25 euro to Leixlip or some such rubbish. They're such chancers.

At least they were sensible enough not to pay!! I know of an incident where driver tried to charge more than double the fare so person asked for receipt(printed) which of course driver could not give - garda were called and driver was told to print receipt which since he hadn't turned on meter was for 4.45 instead of the 50 he tried to charge - guess how much he got paid - 4.45!!!

I'm in all week doing my thesis.

    ffs.

I've missed many a class, oops.

The taxi drivers are being assholes, our fare was upto 5 by the time he drove from the SU to manor mills last night, so my friend and I went crazy at him and made him agree on 20 euro for two stops (Leixlip and Celbridge). I think at one point she was shouting at him to pull over because she wasn't paying him the estimated 38.

dont get in taxis with them, there comming in from dublin and all sorts to do rounds, the way they work is you get in to the car and theres 4.65 on the clock before you go anywere and a euro added ontop of that for every person in the car then so if your on your own beofre you have moved youve spent 5.65, thats just about eoungh to get me home in a hackney. stay away from em.
just go to a taxi rank or ring up, you dont know who your getting in with. also notice they all have sat navs cause they dont have a fu*king clue were there going

Was it just me or did the roost and the su seem very dead today ???

What is the story with getting non-nuim students into the roost tomorrow night?

Like on Monday night they didnt ask anyone for id and it was the same last night according to of my friends who was there.

But seeing as Thursday is the Roost main night there will be a lot of people heading and I can remember last year a girl who had an NUIG student card couldnt get in.

They're pricks about that stuff. Get there early is all I can say and you won't have to go through bouncers.

Donal Mc Clean ans Sinead Connoly came joint first.
Thanks to all who signed up, we ended up raising about 500 squids.

Although I'm convinced we should have kept the money as compensation for sitting in the cold beside the the door in the arts block for two weeks, signing everybody up!!

Just curious as I didn't go to the SU much this RAG week, what were the Vengaboys and S Club like? Which members of S Club were there? (I remember all their names :o)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,979 ✭✭✭mp3guy

Vengaboys were pretty epic. I really liked the DJ on that night, played some good ravin' tunes. Though it got way too poppy for my tastes towards the end.

First off, I got my none Maynooth friends into the Roost.

Secondly, I heard S-Club members had a good bit of drink in them even before they went on stage then they picked up 5 freshers and brought them back to their hotel room in the Glenroyal.

    Giggidy :D
