That moment when buying a car kit would have been a good investment.

Nice photo in my opinion, even though it was entirely by chance, as the car just pulled up and parked like that, and the Garda wandered off.

Unfortunately, it had nothing to do with me requesting a quick few shots of the car for half an hour at 4am on a Tuesday (or any equally generally quiet time). More annoying that my requests to get a few shots of the car occurred before the car even ever arrived at the station (Drogheda, by the way).

Does anyone else find dealing with the community policing (or Gardai in general) to be a constant uphill struggle? Handful of helpful chaps in the station, but they're so few and far between.

I genuinely would have thought that a bit of goodwill would work both ways with the Gardai in the station (i've photographed their open days, printed off copies of photos and dropped them to the station, printed off a photo book and dropped it in, gave an ES-themed calendar down with local Garda photos, always email photos on anytime I'm asked, have even taken family photos and forwarded them on, all of the above, for free and out of my own pocket of course). Yet getting a patrol car (that's parked up and vacant every night I pass the station) seems to be met with the same kind of response I'd get if I asked them to shut down the station and celebrate KKV day with a bit of interpretive dance.

More frustrating is that I talk to photographers in the UK who actually have the police ringing them telling them they've new stuff coming in and asking would they like to pop in and grab a few photos.

Seems the only time I've ever gotten anywhere was when the Traffic Corps chaps get new bits and pieces (I'm not sure why they're so helpful, and of course, it could be down to sheer luck of getting the right person at the right time), but I do find it very disheartening. So much so I've actually given up on ES photos over the last year or so. (I'm sure some of ye may remember I was a fairly enthusiastic and common poster in here with various ES themed images).

Is this a Drogheda Station thing, or does everyone run into the same situation across the country? Is there an 'inside ruling' of sorts that photography is frowned upon (that's the impression I often get)?

As I say, I've met some amazingly nice chaps that have helped me out (the Isuzu D-Max, with the assistant of a boardsie Garda, was great fun to shoot and only took 15 minutes, and an impromptu meeting with another garda got me a great shot of the Avensis with it's blues on before.

Just think it's a pity as they get some lovely gear and with a bit of time (not an enormous amount obviously, as it'd be impractical), I'd love to try and repeat some of my St. John Ambulance Land Cruiser efforts with AGS' gear.

Just in relation to the Discussion thread talking about the scroll bars, the RSU have bars that have scrolling text, but that still manage to look modern and new (apologies, i know the photo isn't really a vehicle photo as such, but was the first one I could find with the bar visible, so..)

Conachy's, a local Seat dealership, recently donated a brand new Seat Leon to the Boyne Fishermen Rescue and Recovery Service.

Fair play to them, say I.

The BFRRS brought the car out to get a few photos, which I was glad to take. Fair play to Conachy's. You can read more about the donation on Independent.ie
