    Gardai end 2-hour armed standoff in South Dublin with man yielding legally held firearm, understood to have self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head (suicide attempt). Critically ill in hospital, died a day later. Media blackout lifted.

    Notice the aqua green Isuzu Trooper during a Garda checkpoint on the M1 a few weeks back. Unmarked and belonged to two armed Detectives, anyone know which unit? Didn't realise the Gardai still used Isuzu Troopers...

    Armed Gardai from the RSU and ERU return fire on gunman in Sligo, negotiators later bring incident to a peaceful conclusion. 50 local people evacuated from their homes. Nobody hurt.
