Im an architectural technology student, getting an ordinary degree this year and honours degree in sustainable architecture next year (IT Carlow) id considered studying the taught masters in DIT on planning and development (2years part time) i was just wondering if you'd know anything about the masters course. would it be going away from AT a bit too much or would it be beneficial as a technologist.

The general requirements for entering any masters course (that's worth while) is a 2.1 in a relevent honours degree course. You will normally have to prove you have a number of years practical experience also.

I got on to a masters course with an ordinary degree but i had many years experience.

In relation to doing a Town Planning course, i would say go for it. There will be very little work for Architectural Technologists over the coming years and if you have another (relative) qualification it will certainly put you ahead of the posse whilst also giving you broader job prospects.

Do what all your alma mater done before you and do the higher degree in Waterford. It will certainly give you more academic credibility.
