local elections are around the corner, so the councilors should be falling over themselves to help you

So dont just contact one, contact them all,. What I would also do is to maybe even contact folks running in your area who are not elected yet - they should be ultra eager [the party forums on politics.ie should give you a hint there, as they generally have treads for each ward]
