Just got an email about this a few minutes ago - they're moving servers!

It is valid between now and the end of October and will give a 5.00 euro discount on all purchases above 50.00. Simply type in "moving" at the discount box at checkout.

    got the same email.

ive ordered from gamesnash a few times and find them to be very good, well priced and quick delivery.

also being boards friendly doesn't hurt.

Do these take Laser? Theres some great prices on the site,
but i don't want to sign up if its only credit card.

    We do indeed.

Select credit / debit card at checkout and it will take you to worldpay our card processors.

PS - since laser cards have no csv number on them just leave this blank when inputting your card details - it has caused confusion before. :)

Little big planet? the hut have it for £34.93, use code "HALLOWEEN" to get it down to £32.93, 32.93 GBP = 41.3041 EUR.

  • Company Representative Posts: 2,957 ✭✭✭Gamesnash.ie: Pat

To be honest that's cheaper than we can buy it ourselves off the Irish distributors.

Certainly worth looking at for those who don't mind the waiting time for delivery.

so do video game plus but I wouldn't mind having it on launch day as most of the people here in work will be interested in having a look.

Yeah have to say I was well impressed with the delivery time the last time I ordered from you - I got the game within a day or two. Very handy for last minute pressies and stuff.

    Thanks for that vote :)

That's basically what our business is based on. We are nowhere near as big as the hut or play and we certainly don't have a tax dodging office in Jersey :D so there are times that we are going to be a bit more expensive.

That said the extra few euro spent in these cases will deliver a vastly superior customer service and the fastest delivery to Ireland. The fact we have just had to move the servers shows that this model is being well received by Irish gamers. Of course the more it is received the bigger we get, the better deals we can do with suppliers and ultimately we aim to be at the same price point as the larger guys whilst maintaining that customer service level.

    [/self rightous monologue] :p

You have made this point before about us so we will post the same reply as before ………….

    1) We are not anywhere near as big as play.com - they are buying tens of thousands of each title directly from the publishers. The majority of our stock is sourced from Irish distributors as we are not yet big enough to buy directly. As such if the Irish distributors have not lowered their prices we are not in a position to do so ourselves. Play.com can afford to loss lead on their last couple of hundred of each item as they have made their money on the thousands of units they sold before.

    2) Play.com are based in Jersey and exploit a legal loophole in that they are not obliged to charge VAT on their sales so take the current Tiger Woods 09 and add 21% to their price and see how that compares to us and indeed to the bricks and mortar stores.

    3) We generally work off less than 10% margin - on a €57.99 game we will make a profit after postage costs of approx €4.00 and with this we pay for staff costs / warehousing etc. Due to points 1 and 2 above there are certain situations where play.com are able to retail cheaper than we can buy ourselves.

We will quite openly state now and as we have done in the past that we do not claim to be as cheap as play.com on every single item they sell - we simply can't compete with them at the moment. When we source clearance stock etc from our own suppliers we pass on those savings to our customers and yes we do put offers out on boards.ie because quite simply we have a large customer base from here.

However our market research and our growing customer base is showing quite clearly that customers choose their retailers based not only on price but on service too. Order Tiger Woods 09 now from play.com and delievery times are generally 1 - 2 weeks. Order from us get it 1-2 days.

Our business model is based on the fact that we believe that service plays a big part in a customers choice and that we bridge the gap between the higher prices of a bricks + mortar store and the lower prices of the super retailers like play and amazon etc who whilst at times offering the cheapest option balance that with an inferior customer service.

Pre orders through ourselves again bridge the gap - the biggest example to date was GTA4 - we retailed at €57.99 - the high street stores retailed as high as €74.99 and play.com retailed at €55.99 ( again noting that play.com made a lot bigger profit than we did ) the majority of our customers recieved that game on the morning of release, saved up to €18.00 and were online beating the crap out of the guys who stood in a midnight queue. Head over to the GTA forum and you will see a lot of posts where our competitors took a further 2 weeks to deliver.

We also allow our customers to trade in their old games - We aim to match if not beat bricks and mortar trade in prices but instead of then putting your credit to a game that is up to 20% dearer you end up with a transaction which leaves you paying far less for that game than if in a high street store.

In summary - of course it is up to an individual consumer to make their choice and for some a cheaper product is worth the wait, for others it is not. For some inferior template type responses to email queries is acceptable - for others it is not. For those who want that bit of service, for those who want their retailer to go the extra mile to sort them out, for those who want to support an Irish owned company and for those who want to tell the tax dodgers to f£$% off there is Gamesnash.ie - for the others there is play.com and we wish you all the best there.

Since you find it appealing to select certain prices to make your point you will appreciate this selection of xbox games……….

Gears of war 2 pre order €54.99 – On play €55.99
    Halo 3 €21.99 – Play €34.99
    Smackdown V Raw 09 pre order - €52.99 – On play €55.99
    Pro Evolution 09 - €52.99 – On play €55.99

When it’s possible to beat their prices we do – when it’s not we rely on our customer service levels to make up the difference. You are one of those people who we wish all the best whilst shopping elsewhere ;)

Settle down nevaeh-2die-4, no need to be so aggressive. mcgovern, please report any posts you have an issue with. I don't want cross forum arguments around here. Thank you.

Gamesnash.ie have worked with boards members from day one with discounts and I appreciated the way they worked with me when I approached them. Carry on please. Thanks.

Just preordered GoW2 now, pretty damn happy with that for €50!
Actually felt a little bad about using the €5 off voucher after their response to nevaeh-2die-4 above.
A pleasure dealing with them once again, and it's always heartwarming to see this level of consumer interaction.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend gamesnash to friends or fellow posters, and would definitely keep using them if I wasn't emigrating next month and didn't already have enough games to build a fort

I just read about this site today, having already ordered Fallout 3 and had it posted on Tuesday. What kind of average are people getting their orders after checkout? I would consider it in future if I knew it had a good delivery time.

I have no problem paying a little extra for an Irish company & to get it that little bit quicker (after all, is that not why people still buy out of rip off merchants like GAME in the first place?).

I've always been pleased when I've ordered from Gamesnash. I once pre-ordered a game on a Wednesday that was due for release that Friday and still managed to get it on release day which was a fantastic service. Longest I've had to wait was 2 days, but this was understandable as I placed the order at night, it was shipped the next day and arrived the day after that. They've the fastest delivery times, no doubt about it.

Have found them to be excellent and would highly recommend them. How someone can have a problem with this is beyond me. The customer service blows the pants off Play and others. That alone is easily worth the few extra punts. Plus a game arriving on release day in the post box saving me from a trip into town when hungover is priceless. Lets see if they can do it again this Friday when COD is due to arrive.

I'd recommend everyone giving Gamesnash a go.

I traded in Gears of War, Saint's Row, Mass Effect, and NHL 2K8(Just old games I never really liked) and this was enough to get a brand new copy of Fallout 3 off them.
They even give a generous P&P allowance for when you mail your games to them.

I have to say i am HIGHLY impressed with the quality and promptness of the service i have received from gamesnash.Having been the victim of many cockups and mistakes from other so called well known game supply companies, i was a bit sceptical of placing an order with these guys.
Having said that, the merchandise i ordered arrived this morning in PERFECT condition with no fuss or hassle, and i as i said in an earlier post i will now be using gamesnash as my primary games supplier:D:D:D

    great service.. :)

also wondering will i get Call of Duty: World at War for the PC on release day this friday if i order it today?

Have to say, I'm very impressed.

I do everything online, and trading in games with Gamesnash.com was easy.

I sent them a list through their online form, got prices back in 1-2 days, good prices too which included postage.

Boxed off the games, and got email confirmation with the voucher code in another 1-2 days, ordered some games, and delivery was another 1-2 days.

So all in all, while it might take a 6-7 day turnaround (with standard post) for a trade in & buy, you can do it all from the comfort of your home/office without having to go to an actual shop and get ripped off on both the trade in and the purchase.

    Thumbs up from me

They might be good for shipping / fast delivery etc but their prices are a rip off. I just looked at their Nintendo Wii games and I have seen 95% of them for a lot cheaper in the shops (both new and second hand).

    Example:
Super Mario Smash Bros - €49.99 new on Gamesmash (I bought it 2nd hand for €35)

Wii fit - €94.99 new on Gamesmash (I saw it new for €70)

Rayman Ravin Rabbits 2 - €34.99 new on Gamesmash (I bought it new for €29.99)

Everything else seems to be the same price that most shops sell for (I do not see any Wii game on that site that I can get for cheaper than in a high street store)

That website seems like rip off central to me....at least for wii games anyway. (Oh and I am only making my comparisons to the high street shops and not to other online retailers)

I don't think that it's fair at all to compare the price of a new game to a pre-owned one. God, I remember having "fair experiments" driven into my head when I studied Science.

    • Not going to bore the regular thread readers ! here with repeating what we have already posted so please have a read of our main reply on page 2. The huge high street retailers like Game have the same purchasing power as play.com etc and can again afford to loss lead on the last of a few titles where we are in the situation that our prices are dictated by the Irish distributors prices. Also please bear in mind we have packaging / postage costs to allow for too.
    • Wii Fit is one of those titles that the postage cost is astronomical compared to the cost / retail of the product. It costs us €16.00 to ship a Wii Fit – and that €16.00 plus vat at retail means €20.00 of that €95.00 is being wiped out by the postage costs. We have openly posted about this in the Wii Fit thread here on boards.ie. In fact since we have dropped the price to €95.00 we make a profit of approx €4.00 on a Wii Fit.
    • Rip Off is a lovely expression  the actual meaning of it taken directly from dictionary.com ….
    1. an act or instance of ripping off another or others; a theft, cheat, or swindle.

2.exploitation, esp. of those who cannot prevent or counter it.
    • We don’t steal, cheat or swindle anyone and we don’t exploit those who cannot prevent or counter it. We have our costs to provide the service we provide. We make what a lot of people have described as an insanely low profit margin. We are very open about our prices and how we are struggling to compete with the bigger retailers. We will get there and when we do we of course will be able to pass on our purchasing power in terms of lower prices but as things stand our stall is set out as providing unbeatable customer service at the best possible price. We are confident we are very competitive in general.
•Again its easy to cherry pick prices that are bettered elsewhere but to be fair a pre owned price versus a new price is a little below the belt :D
•Everyones entitled to their opinion of course but we’re looking a the definition of a troll here on dictionary.com and ……………… can’t help but wonder ;)

After all the promises etc made , I have just gotten an email saying that i will not get my fm2009 on time , I'm not I'm pressed now at all. First impressions last.

Have to hold our hands up – we dropped the ball – more accurately as was explained in the email the Irish distributors for Sega have dropped it. We don’t even have the ball to drop.

What has happened for those who would not be aware is that the Irish distributors for Sega have informed us that they have not received their own inbound delivery yet and are not going to until Friday afternoon. As such we are not going to receive the stock until it is too late to ship in time for delivery on Friday.

To be fair we have offered the following to all pre orders for this title …

    a) Free express post / courier dispatch on Sauturday morning - this will be delivered to you on Tuesday morning at latest. We will refund any postal charges already paid and an extra €5.00 to make up for the delay.

    or

    b) Should you choose to purchase the game on release day in any retail outlet we will refund you your entire order value plus give you €5.00 credit on your account here at Gamesnash. Furthermore any difference in price between our price and the price you pay for the game on the high street stores will also be added to your account in credit form if you post the receipt into us.
