There is reports that the minister of Health Mary Harney is currently in the process of passing a bill to outlaw the sale and supply of legal party pills which would include BZP benzylpiperazine. These have been sold for several years over the counter in head shops, on line and at various trade shows such as the RDS. There are arguments for and agaiinst the sale of these pills.

Why doesn't she do something useful and proactive such as raise the taxes on sweets and food that is bad for you? (insert Harney weight joke here)

So you go into a "head" shop to get "off your head" on the porty pills.

Maybe Harney is just jealous as she is trying to grow the biggest head in the world and wants the stiffle the competition.

But really, who gives a fluck. I wouldn't bother with them cheap useless rubbish anyway. The real thing is €5 off one of them dodgy spaniards in the Tripod anyway. Probably cheaper.

Its only just a ploy to try and draw attention away from the medical card scandal.

    Pretty much.

Also, BZP is largely ****. The pills that contain it are largely ****. In fact, out of everyone i know who does drugs, the worst nights they had, for the most part, involved BZP.

Fat miserable hoore. Why can't she actually put some effort into her main job instead?

I completely agree. Although I still think Mary Harney is a feckin waste of space.

She is clearly very talented at blaming the people below her for the consistant mess that is our Health Service.

I can only assume it will take someone dying on a trolley in a hospital hallway waiting to be seen before anything is actually done about her.

is she just baning bzp or is she trying to shut down head shops totally.

there are some good products; kratom, salvia, cactii ect.

"smoke" is nasty ****, someone should find out what's in it.

OP just says "party pills". To be fair, it's probably for the best as several people in this thread have pointed out.

Just BZP, and it's been in the works and on the cards for a while now.

I still say be rid of it, **** product.

The whole "legal pill" sceen is cat and mouse, the drug ingredient has to be singled out and banned by the state medical board, as soon as its outlawed there is a substitute within weeks. BZP was banned several years ago in the UK but not long after cathinone became readily availible on the market.

I know i'm letting myself in for it here, but all of you idiots calling Harney a 'bitch' or a 'geebag' and making lame jokes about her weight should cop on to yourselves. You're pathetic.

If you feel the need to stand up for the head shops, try to come up with something more convincing than this juvenile rubbish.

Personally i couldn't care less about whether or not the shops are open, i wouldn't be interested in them anyway. In my experience. most of their products tend to result in either a *****ty high or a *****y come down. The staff and customers tend to consist of a load of spaced out losers who spend the day sniggering like morons as they tell each other boring stories about how fuc*ked they got last week. But that's just my opinion.

Don't believe everything you hear. No real come up ( okay, a nice warm fuzzy feeling but that is NOT a come up ), jitters, that kind of annoying anxious feeling and a lot of trouble sleeping the night after use.

I have tried several of the various types of "party pills" and the above were common for all of them.

When i compare to decent MDMA it's more expensive, worse sides and nothing available ( that i am aware of ) to negate them.

Also, if you hear someone talking about a "skag" as a regular part of their life then that person is a moron and shouldn't be allowed near drugs.

A bit of 5HTP will cure the comedown with no problems.

Of course, this is illegal for purchase in Ireland. We couldn't have any money gone out of the pockets of the pharma's, especially as 5HTP helps deal with Seasonal Depression and various sleep related problems that you can go into pharmacy and pay good money to have dealt with less effectively.

The second last time i took real ones "before my seizure party" i felt like that only without the warm feeling, jaysus i was the heart and soul of the party that night. :(

Used to love that warm feeling. Bah

Considering one of the famous head shops also sells illegal drugs (e.g. hash) I am not surprised to see this coming.

They took the piss, and now they're in trouble.

hah! i like the way that suddenly out of nowhere all the druggies descend on ah for a posting frenzy, the threads rack up the posts at tremendous speed and then suddenly they're gone for another few weeks.

Agree'd. "Real" stuff is much nicer, and allows you to sleep afterwards. BZP is much too intense, gives you a hangover in the middle of the night and stops any chances of you sleeping.

I wouldn't miss the crap at all, but out of principle I think Harney's being an idiot. No one's died from them that I'm aware of. Stick a tax on Belgian chocs and give tax credits to members of gyms...

Its funny occasionally but every forum I go into now you have some sort of scare story posted. It will work better if you keep it to a minimum. People just expect it now.

After my experiments ( simply because i won't dismiss anything without trying it, within reason ) i am absolutely certain that "Party Pills" are a complete joke.

Someone discovered a mild similarity to MDMA and marketed it accordingly. Because it was a legal compound there was nothing that could be done about it.

There are far, far better legal alternatives to MDMA for those who would go looking for them. Ones that won't leave you in tatters the way BZP does.

Personally i don't really like talking to people when they are on BZP any....all the worst stereotypes that i normally associate with speed come out. Twitchy, needing distraction, endless frantic energy but lacking the ability to maintain a solid train of thought to do anything with it.

    Annoying, basically.

I forgot to mention, crows and magpies are also starved over the wheelybin lid issue, Don't leave your child unattended in the back garden, the hungry crows and magpies could peck his eyes out :pac::pac::pac:

Because BZP is the only thing that is preventing the Zombie outbreak. Its a miracle drug that keeps the virus from spreading.
The moment Harney bans it, its going to be an all out brains fest. Or grains for the vegetarian zombies.

I know Harney's not exactly been great but the Health Service was a disaster long long before she had any involvement. ;)

As for banning legal drugs, it's inevitable. Most countries have a policy of banning all drugs other than alcohol, anything legal's usually a loophole, something they forgot about or often enough never even heard of.

Not really, it's just that most countries are more up to date on what is and what isn't a drug. Lots of things can be taken as drugs that were originally intended for other purposes.

Also, you need to ban something based on it's chemical structure. Small alterations can be made that can turn illegal substance A into unclassified, and therefore not illegal, substance B.

The states have introduced analogue laws to deal with this AFAIK. Basically if it acts like a drug then it is illegal. I'd hate to see things go that way here.

As soon as they are banned it will push the drug scene further underground, the demand for Extacy will go up. The illegal trade will gain from the sale of Ecstasy. I am against these drugs but at the same time I could see an opportunity for some regulation rather than a total ban in order to suppress the underground movement and also on a health and safety issue.

If the Government had strict guidelines on party pills, the ingredients etc, people would know exactly what they are buying. The sale could also draw much needed revenue instead of filling the arse pockets of drug dealers around the country.

Either way, all these recreational drugs will soon be banned by the EU, Mary Harney is just trying to beat them to it.

Me'h, the States have a decent history of introducing laws that contradict other laws, breach Constitution or override it as they see fit.

Not something i have seen that much of in Ireland.
