Sokker Manager - online soccer game

so well... i played a few MMORPG's over the years and loved the comcepts...
only thing is i didnt have time after a while to keep going at the addictive ones caus u Needed to be online a certain amount a day to keep going...

    www.sokker.org

the concept of the game is similar to Football manager although everything is a lot simpler. basically its also divided into countries so you're playing against irish users only.
although you can challenge ppl from all around the world in frendlies etc..

thing that i liked is that you have 1 league match a week and 14 a season (basically league ends after this so promotions etc happen)

its not based on real players or atin like that but its great game IMO

theres loadsa videos on youtube too

    [http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hIwdH4yEUzw]the match viewer example[/url]
    how tactics work

game is constantly improving too and irish userbase is increasing so i figured there might be ppl from here on. its simple interface and easy to get used to too!

anyone else on the forum here play it??

Isn't there somewhere better to put this than MM, an internet section?

Anyway yes, we're members of an online football manager game. There are currently around 60,000 managers worldwide of which 80 are ours (yeah, we're a bit outnumbered) and so here we are trying to recruit more players to Sokker Ireland. It would help the Ireland national team enormously to have just 100 more users and i have setup a guide for anyone who chooses to join.
We have all the features of a normal online management game but with one big bonus, we have a live match viewer. We also have a very versatile and impressive tactical engine. I've been in the game since June 2006 and i'm still fine-tuning my formations.
We also have a Bebo page, even if you dont want to play it'd be appreciated if you added us to your friends list. We're trying to advertise ;)

This is a much better video, although that engine has now been updated where players do visibly tackle for the ball and keepers do dive.

    Hey guys, just signed up.

I bring with me 3 years hattrick experience and one year Trophy Manager.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 Mr Nin

Excellent. Our member numbers have gone up in the last week. We now have 86 with 5 teams on the waiting list.
There is a newbie guide in the Irish forum that i wrote for new users. Usually i'll send a link when you join but sometimes it takes a while to find new teams.

How long does approval usually take?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 Mr Nin

It's difficult to tell really. 1 or 2 days hopefully. I'll harass the mods into speeding things up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Ok cool. Hopefully won't be too long.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 Mr Nin

"we normally accept new applicants every day, just be sure they make the request and click on the link they receive via email and we will open the new teams!"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

    Just got this -
Your application to www.sokker.org has been
rejected, your account has been removed.

There are few possible reasons why this situation
    has happened:
    - You didn`t comply with fair-play rules. Most
common reason is applying for a second team in our
game or applying for a second team on a shared IP
    without sending explanations to admins@sokker.org.

    - You have supplied invalid data during
registration, ie. you have an offensive team
name/username, or an invalid e-mail address.

    First time signing up. Wtf?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 Mr Nin

I'll ask, What name and clubname did you sign up with?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Club name is 10 Xaivs & A Keeper.

Username is my own personal name. I replied to the email asking why I was rejected.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 Mr Nin

I've messaged them about it. I cant see any reason why you'd be rejected.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,329 ✭✭✭wcarey1975

Just signed up today hopefully wont get a reject message for no apparant reason like Xavi. Only play Xpert online manager online. Username is same as here and Team name is rafaloution.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 943 ✭✭✭kenyard

I replied to the email asking what the story was and it's because I applied for a team a country I don't live in. Why would that matter?

And no, I'm a Man City fan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 943 ✭✭✭kenyard

explain you're from ireland, just on holidays or something... they do that so everyone cant just go and join one country..or if u had friends in teh game from england u couldnt join england etc...
i'll contact an admin on the irish forums anwyays and see what they say

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Yeah I told him I was just over here on holidays and that I'm from Ireland. Hopefully it can be sorted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 943 ✭✭✭kenyard

    cool :)

hope ye can get to the first division soon! its where the competition gets tough!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 Mr Nin

It used to be the case that you could survive in the 1st division based on players alone, now that Division 1 is full up every game is competitive. Creating your own formations are the key to getting anywhere in this game.
There is a guide in the New User section, written by myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 943 ✭✭✭kenyard

im after posting a link in all the second division forums to it mate ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,056 ✭✭✭~Marky~

Thanks lads I will have a read of it tonight :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 943 ✭✭✭kenyard

All going well for me so far 2 matches played and won both :D and I am 2nd in my league for the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 943 ✭✭✭kenyard

id suggest getting a good squad together before getting promoted :) first division is tough.

    u want a fanclub ~700 aswell.
and a stadium of at least 5000 by the time u get there. i have 17000 there now building like and im only 5th in our division...

i suggest u get training monitoring programs too :)
    sokker organiser

doesnt require install just keep it in a folder somewhere and update 1ce-2ce a week and it gives u clear indication of all player improvements etc... (training occurs on thursdays...)

from that program i can tell clearly i had 5 pace pops this week etc etc...
Just a few more tips mate

p.s grats on winning first 2 matches. took me a while to get used to the game! pay us a visit on sokker ireland forums :)

The admins will email you saying you can't join but you just explain your situation and they should let you in. A couple of the lads from this thread spoke up on my behalf so it all got sorted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 943 ✭✭✭kenyard

yeah..i'll get on to admins if u give me ur team name and details...

otherwises send an email to the admins

    heres bit from the rules

The team you apply for must be settled at your real country, unless your country is not available in Sokker. If you are from a country other that the one you're currently living, and want to create a team within this other country, you must send an e-mail to admins@sokker.org.

just send them an email explaining ur there working or something and it shud be handy clear up :)

when u register id say, send ur team name and username + country of registration

if theres any further trouble mate send us a msg. with so many new users joining up from the forums here im sure some of ye will be paired against one another in leagues :)

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 10,912 Mod ✭✭✭✭Ponster

Cheers. I've emailed them and waiting to see what happens next....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 943 ✭✭✭kenyard

forgot to add... new teams arent accepted on match days (wednesdays and sundays) so wont be accepted till tmw...

98 users we will have now though :)

i suggest everyone who gets on, try and arrange a friendly for wednesday.. if u post ur team here etc i can explain how if needs be.. also might be cool for 2 new teams to challenge each other to see who might have better tactics etc :)

Aye and that's why the list should have been sorted yesterday. We need our own admin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Lol won my first league game 8-0 :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 943 ✭✭✭kenyard

    wow not bad mate :)
i suggest u arrange a friendly for wednesday if ur not training stamina as it gives ur team extra training :)
also play as many players as possible other than ur first team as it trains them too and if u hvae a few youths its gr8 to train them..

still 6 teams awaiting. im gonna spam the mods ingame now

They want me to prove I'm from Ireland before they'll accept me !
How am I supposed to prove this?

To be very honest, I'm much less interested in joining a game where the admins want proof of where you live first...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,056 ✭✭✭~Marky~

I won 7-1 :D How many teams get promoted from my league?

That's classic stuff right there (have never seen that on any of the other football manager games I play).

I'm still waiting for my approval email losing interest fast though
