Bra to Bed??????

Not a contender for deepest post of the year or anything, but something that I've wondered about for a while now.......

I've always, always taken off my bra going to bed. It feels like I'm going to bed with a school bag on or something if I don't. (Having said that I'm only a B cup so there are no flappage issues).

Having stayed over with mates for years and lived/roomed with other wimmins I've come to realise that not all of the laydees do this. I thought it was normal. I can't imagine the discomfort of going to bed still strapped in - to me it'd be like trying to sleep comfortably in jeans.....

So am I the unusual one or do most girls wear their bras all of the time????

If you're fairly busty you can get a bit uncomfortable at night during certain times of the month when tenderness sets in. Perhaps for one or two nights a month I might wear a crop top style bra and girl boxers instead of a nightie or pj's to contain the twins and minimize discomfort.

There is a limit to the ammount of hours I can wear a bra, only wore nursing bras at night when I was breast feeding, needed the support as I went up to a 42 F.

:D excellent way of putting it!

I feel the exact same way. Couldn't wear my bra going to bed

Never ever left it on with pjs, always take it off at night.
However if I go for a nap in the middle of the day, with clothes on, I wouldn't find it uncomfortable.
I wear the non-wired kind tho, that probably makes a difference.

I say burn them :P Noo way would I wear one in bed...usually its a pair of boy shorts and a string top and I'm good to go. There is no need for one...its not like ya going jogging! :)

Same here, Thaedydal! Bring back horrible memories (even though I loved the experience at the time). Went up to the same size too, but now I'm back to an A-cup I don't need one at night anymore.

If I had 42F frontage, I'd have a steel re-enforced, moulded fibreglass, industrial strenght bra on 24/7.

Seriously, am I the only one whose breasts get so sore you can barely touch them for a couple of days around menstruation?

    LOL

I'm a bed time bra wearer! outed :p

Fairly big boobs 38DD, so can't imagine (ahem, except in certain situations) not wearing one. Obviously not underwired (Triumph Doreen all the way my granny would be proud).

I dunno why, deep rooted psychological fear of them ending up drooping down to my knees by the time i hit 40?

No doubt in in the minority, but it's no way uncomfortable.

Jebus, maybe i am a freak! No matching sets though, down town is free town :D

I hardly ever wear one going to bed unless I'm just incredibly lazy or forget.
They do tend to be uncomfortable alright.

I also wear a bra in bed, there are a few times like when I have my period and they are tender I will leave it off but normally always wear it.

GirlInterrupted - No you're not alone there - my boobs get unbearably tender about ten days before my period and it doesn't dissapear until it literally arrives then boom, the pain is magically gone! But I still can't wear a bra to bed at that time, though mine aren't really big enough to bounce about or anything :-(

Glad to know I'm not alone then - whenever I said it to my mates/room mates about not wearing one to bed they always looked at me like I had two heads and were in awe of the fact that I even considered taking it off???!!!! I suppose though, to be fair, if I had the boobage for sinkage it'd probably make sense to support them even at night. Don't think there's enough of mine to go south though!

Same size (38DD/E here) and I never wear bras in bed. I'd prefer to give the twins some freedom at night :)

DD and sometimes E cup here - always wear a bra to bed (when I'm not having fun... ;)). I've heard stuff about it being bad for you, bla bla. Meh, I wanna keep those girls in tip-top shape as long as possible, and lying bra-less on my front is hardly gonna help that cause.

And yes, mine get very tender, swollen and quite sore around my period. Being bra-less is indeed very uncomfortable at that time.

Your breasts went from A cup to F?? I'm not very well up on bra sizes but isn't that a pretty huge increase? Sorry if that's a bit personal.
Also, all this stuff about tender soreness for ten days out of thirty? Once again I wander into a thread and think "damn, women's bodies are messed up". So glad I have a penis tbh.

Similiar here :) I read an article, which I cannot find now, that said wearing a bra in bed helps keep the girls in good shape :)

I guess that does balance things out, but still ye go through a lot of pain for that wee bump...its pretty fantastic though.

Each cup size in an increase of an inch between the measurement of the rib cage and the measure ment over the fullest part of the bust.

A cup is 1 inch of a difference
B cup is 2 inch of a difference
C cup is 3 inch of a difference
D cup is 4 inch of a difference
DD cup is 5 inch of a difference
E Cup is 6 inches of a difference
F Cup is 7 inches of a difference.

Breast change size slightly over the course of a monthly cycle.
Really they could do with at least doubling the range of sizes.

+1 The one time I wore a bra to bed was when I came home drunk after a night out and just fell asleep in my clothes, but the wires really dug into me and I was really sore the next day! One of the wires had popped out and there was a big dent in my side from where it was digging in to me all night :( I like those M&S string tops with the 'secret support' things in them, they're great for round that time of the month.

I want to, but I don't, if you know what I mean. I likes wimmens very much, but there are some things that can be learned that should wait.

Yep - heard the same friend of my mams who has a lingere shop - told me ware your bra at night and will help stop them going south. She is about 60 was convinced she had a job done but she says posture - cold water rinses and decent bras are the reason she still has a set years her junior.

I never wear a bra when I sleep. I like comfort so I only wear my pajamas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,756 ✭✭✭Jules

+1 to the non wearage of the bras, as often as possible. Come home after work shower and depending on what im doing the bra comes off. Obviously if im going out i wear one but if im around the house i don't even consider it! Luckly you cannot notice much of a difference when im wearing one and when im not.... unless im very cold!

I usually wear a bra to bed so I'm another weirdo! I actually feel kinda naked without it on and sleep much better when I'm wearing one.....and my boobies are only ickle. Maybe it's out of habit over the years but I don't sleep as well without them on.

    Freak.

I cant relax properly with a bra on. I don't even like wearing socks in bed.

never liked wearing a bra to bed, unless staying in a room with someone else, but was recently told that by wearing a bra to bed you're helping your breasts stay firm, possibly too late to put it to the test now though lol

God I don't know how anyone wears one in bed, as soon as I get home I get into comfy clothes without a bra, as for wearing one in bed. I stopped wearing PJs as it was too uncomfortable so I can only imagine how weird it would be wearing a bra to bed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 968 ✭✭✭Pigletlover

I always wear a bra to bed, I usually get nagged to take it off, but I prefer to leave it on. I don't have big boobs so it's not a support thing, my back feels wierd without it.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 11,362 ✭✭✭✭Scarinae

I'd never wear one going to sleep unless I was napping in my clothes... I always take it off if I'm actually changing for bed

Would never wear one at night, isn't it bad for you to wear them all day and night anyway? I thought the boobies had to have some breathing space.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 86 ✭✭Kotick

Bras are meant for support, or a lot of us just wear them to hide our nipples. Anyway, a lot of women wear the wrong type of bra which can actually ruin the natural support your breasts already contain (which could make them droopy over time). So wearing a bra to bed is just plain pointless cause gravity isn't kicking in like it does when you're standing. Your breasts need relaxing breathing time just like every other part of your body.

But if they are so big and wearing a bra brings you physical comfort, then by all means, do what makes you feel comfortable.

For me, the only time I've ever worn a bra to bed is when I forgot to take it off after a night of mass drinking. :p

  • Absolutely not. I can barely stand wearing them in the daytime. If I ever have to sleep in a bra (if I'm sleeping on someones couch/in the airport/on a plane) I find it really uncomfortable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,469 ✭✭✭Pythia

Never worn a bra to bed. Used to wear knickers under my pjs but it's better to let a bit of air in so stopped that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,458 ✭✭✭CathyMoran

34DD/E here and I never wear a bra to bed - himself prefers me naked. I hate the things in any case!

There is no way I could wear a bra to bed. I can't even wear one if i'm trying to get comfy on the sofa, as soon as I get home I get out of my clothes, off with the undies and into my jammies. Like my comfort. don't think my twin D's have suffered too much, they're usually where they should be :D
