well when I tried to go on it again they had Geo restrictions now I wasn't looking for the imported shows just the home grown stuff like primetime, the panel, podge & rodge and nationwide the odd time...

I hope it will be fixed

What needs to be fixed exactly?

Fixed so as that I and other Irsh people abroad can catch up with the home grown programmes :) Why restrict them.. we still pay a TV license fee at home so should be able to watch RTE produced shows whereever :)

Couldn't the same be said for the BBC iPlayer? :)

Yeah, as long as it is the home grown stuff.
Fair enough restricting any other stuff like the premiership soccer or CSI and the like but why not leave the stuff that doesn't get sold on to other broadcasters available to everyone..
Don't think you would get the Panel or Ear to the Ground or even Nationwide being sold on, so they could and IMO should make it available
(It would be nice to be able to catch up on the goings on at home :) )

RTÉ have issues over some rights on their home produced shows e.g. Music rights. TG4 seem to ignore these issues. I am sure TV3 don't bother either.

Sorry to kill your last post Keith99 but why is it that we are now all of a sudden able to talk freely about illegal viewing of streams and downloads. Generally we get stop from talk about it all.

But thanks for the link :)

When using that page I get
To play or download Friday Night with Jonathan Ross: Series 16: Episode 12 you need to enable JavaScript. How?

it should, but it doesn't work. i know someone in donegal who can't access it either. RTE's problem- they don't answer emails and i can't be bothered to start contacing my ISP etc. will just stick with BBC iplayer and 4OD (while it lasts).

Strange RTÉ seem to always seem to reply. I would bother trying to contact an ISP they never reply. :(

I don't see why they couldn't access it from Donegal.

Their site is suggesting that RTÉ News Now was accessed via RTÉ Player from around the world the most during the election coverage.

RTÉ have no control over your ip address so there is no point in contacting them about it. Only your ISP can help you with this.

As far as i know - there is work going on now in regards to writes etc
so it should not be to long.....

The reason some people in Northern Ireland do not have access is because their ISP gives them an ip address that says they are from the UK. This is why they cannot access the RTÉ Player. Some ISP's do not have this problem.

You're not, I just hadn't got near this thread for a few days. It falls into a grey area, since those links could be used for legitimate purposes.

But in the circumstances, post deleted.

You ISP will then contact RTE to get their IP range added to the non-exclusion list. RTE aren't just going to add an individual persons IP address to the list.
