eh, what's the story with the ordeal of trying to use Open Access?? ye all know what i mean!!

The Chem lab is open access and you can also goto the IT office and request your mac to be added to the list of PC's Allowed to access the network. Also there is wireless in F block.

if you need to get get your MAC address :

Goto "Start > Run"
in the run box type "cmd" (without the "")
Press ENTER
This opens a dos box
in there type "ipconfig/all" (without the "")
Look for "Physical address"

Thats it enjoy

i'm subscribed to a thread i didn't post in

weirdness.

will they add anyone to the list? a known troublemaker like me has a lot of trouble getting on any sort of list.

lol. should have made myself clearer. i'm in ITS, so I know how to get a MAC address etc. what I meant was, what's the story with the Open Access room in general?? I went in there the other day to get notes off a buddy who was just inside the door and the one behind the counter nearly reefed me for going to talk to someone!! the attitudes of the people who work there is border insulting.

and the new system is pants. Open Access?? it's the hardest place in the college to get the use of a computer!! they treat us like we're 12. i can use the computer labs happy out, and i have my laptop signed up to the network, but i'd hate to think what anyone else in the college has to go through to get themselves a few minutes on a PC!!

(on a separate note - there's wireless in F block??)

Also the library is pretty much open access give your student card get a login then get your card back when your done.

Well the F block used to its the building with PF50 + in it



(Its near the astro turf / staff car park pitch in CIT inbetween those 2

there is *supposed* to be a computer room ya can use in the electronics dept but it's nearly always locked and the guy running it is <snip>

I had a similar event happen to me last week aswell. Couldnt understand your ones problem.
Anyway, on another note.
You mention having your laptop signed up to the network? What does one have to do to do this and what does it really mean for the use? Its not wireless out there is it?

no no, you can just use it in the labs in those slots designated for laptop usage. totally gay if ya ask me!!

I gave up on Open Access after I got my network login. It was always too busy for my likings and the girls at the desk were so "delightful" to approach...

Yep, only ever went in there once in my life to use a printer to print something, we couldn't sit together, we were kicked out for asking eachother did they have any idea how printing system works. Disgrace tbh - I hate being treated like children, fair enough keep place quiet but not to that degree where you watched like a hawk and made a scene of if you whisiper to someone.

open access is a bit crap alright. I'm in the computing dept so there plenty of other computers for use to use anyway. i think the open access is for people that aren't in courses that u use a computer for much

it's just the attitude of you're wan in there that wrecks my head. i'm ITS so i can use the labs happy out, but i feel sorry for a lot of the other students not doing computer courses...

Yeah they are my thoughts also. Then again, labs didn't work very well at times.... the usual "COM Domain not available" - gone to student now though. Ah well, oh yeah printers never work either.

i dunno if most people in the college know about this forum. I just know about it cuz i've been on this forum for a good while and the college i was in before got one of the first college forums. I also told some of the other guys in my class about this

I'd prefer to survive to be honest. PF52 was growing mushrooms last year (my lecturer took picture of it). The hall way in that prefab has a hole in the floor. You'd have the flu all year round - Room is either extremly cold (nearly always colder than outside) or extremly hot. Theres no win with those prefabs.
