I counted 40 photos taken on my digital camera, most of which are duplicates or used for composing with my pinhole... But I liked these two :)

Loving all of the photos so far especially Kyle's library, Rory's stairs and the axe murderer shots. Oh and 11's documentary shots of the cooking! :D

I finally found time to process a few black and whites...

So many very good shots came out of the weekend.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who made this event great. There will be more trips to the castle for sure. A special thanks to Al for all the help and ThOnda for the cooking.

I got all my pictures of the stables done but sadly little or no other shots.

Will be back down this weekend on organiser duty again and may sneak off to snap one or two.

somewhat off-topic for this thread but who had a really light Manfrotto tripod with this head - http://www.warehouseexpress.com/product/default.aspx?sku=10910

What was the model of tripod and how do you find it with heavy camera's?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,368 ✭✭✭Fionn

were you thinking of the setup i have?
    458bkit.jpg

this supports a EOS 1DS Mk III and a heavy lens (just about)

very quick to set up and put away
    :)

    Hi Cabaal,

I think it's my setup you are thinking of. I use a set of 190MF4 legs with that head. I sit a nikon D300 with battery pack on it and have had no problems with any of my lenses (10-20 Sigma, nifty 50 or 18-55 kit lens). I suspect if I was using a longer/heavier lens, eg a 70-200 f2.8, the legs might be a little light and one of the larger 055 leg sets might be more use. The head seems pretty stable though and the tension in the ball can be adjusted for heavier bodies.

Hope this helps, you deserve an upgrade from your Dad's antique!

dakar though it was you alright but wasn't too sure :)
thanks a mil for the info, yeah I def need an upgrade from that old tripod I think its almost as old as me :)

Fionn I've looked at that head before, looks like it could take more weight then the joystick I would imagine which is something I want to keep in mind as time goes buy especially based on my next lens purchase (70-200 2.8).

    Very tempted by the 458B + 322RC2 + MBAG80P + 102STRAP :D
