    Hey guys,
Brilliant weekend, great to see some new and old faces!

    Muchó appreciated Seb!!

Thanks to everybody involved in this weekend. I really enjoyed it. It was great meeting new and old faces. I enjoyed talking to Richard, one of the owners, about family history and artifacts. Lovley man. Seb, thank you very much for organising this. Well done.

Thanks to ThOnda for cooking dinner last night and for the reheats this morning. :D

I'm looking forward to seeing everybodys shots.

For those of you afraid of the paranormal, I would have to advise you against going. The place IS haunted. There will be some interesting shots coming back from this weekend.

Now time for some food and time in the digital dark room :D

First, thanks to Seb and the volunteers in the castle for sorting out
the event and looking after everyone throughout the weekend.

I was a last minute addition to the trip and I am delighted to have went.
Great group of people and ThOnda's cooking was excellent!! :pac:...

Currently importing everything into Lightroom to be rated.

I have a few paranormal shots captured using specialist equipment that
    might be interesting. ;)

Back home myself. Again, a big cheers to Seb, Smiley and Terri - Oh, and Thonda's food last night - I definitly need to find out how to make those! Student cooking will never be the same again :p

Great meeting all of you, and hope you enjoyed it all, and get some good photos out of it! Next time, I promise, I'll get some sleep before I head down :p

Didn't know anyone cought anything paranormal, will look forward to those photos.

Now... Time to get some more sleep... :pac:

Thanks to Seb et al for organising.

Good to meet old faces and a few new ones. Photos later. Off for shower now

And if anyone is thinking of going to Charleville Castle next year, bring ear plugs :pac:

And there was a brief mention of possibly organising an overnight to Giants Causeway in a few months.

+1.... Although it looks like the snoring scared off the ghosts for the night

Thanks to Seb, it was excellent. The castle started to feel like home later today. I have missed only three things - camera, fast lens and tripod. I hope I'll be ready next time.

    I hope I won't see a lot of pictures of me - yes, I became a model.

And the cooking? The pleasure was on my side - I just love them. The food is called placky (plural), one is just placek.

Peal and grind potatoes, peal and press garlic, eggs (without shells), plain flour, salt and marjoram. Nothing extra, except the feast ;)

I would like to thank everyone who was there. It was excellent. I hope we could go on in similar way.

Really sorry I had to leave yesterday evening and that I wasn't very chatty. Still feel like crap but got quite a few shots I'm happy with.

Sounds like I missed a great evening and sleepless night :P

Hmmm a little spooky. I was up on the top floor this morning on my own and looking over the photos I can see a door as closed in one of my shots. Deffo nobody up there as I was there for at least 30mins.

    Fantastic time, again :)

Big thanks to the guys for organising, to Thonda for his masterful ways in the kitchen, and for you all for posting pictures that make me feel like I should have made the effort to use a tripod, gah :p KJT that library shot is bloody fantastic. And am loving the axe murderer stuff. Hang on, that didn't sound right...

P.S. Next year, seb can you put an extra field in the form that says people have to submit a declaration signed in triplicate by three independent witnesses to say that you don't snore, or you will be sleeping upstairs... please?

i had a bit of a borrowed 5d fail when it seemed to have underexposed everything but anyway, here we have the murky bw recordings of the making of dinner :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,699 ✭✭✭ThOnda

That stupid cat didn't run away after close threat by the knife. Fortunately no cats were harmed during making of the dinner.

There are some wonderful photos coming back from this great weekend at Charleville including a few surprises. Eleven's images from the kitchen give a different perspective of time spent there. As for time I'm sure our selubreious axe murderer done his own share a long, long time ago.

I had a wonderful weekend, but one of the things that surprised me about this wonderful castle is the constant struggle to haul this beast back from the grappling hands of mother nature. The castle owners and the small crew of volunteers have managed very well to keep this castle alive. The restoration project is a mammoth task. The castle is a sponge. You could easily throw a couple of million at this sponge and it would only get damp. The rooms that have been restored are wonderful, the exterior of the building is ... wow, amazing. The vast grounds alone would require an army of men to maintain. Yet the struggle with mother nature is being won through the efforts of giants. These owners and volunteers can stand tall and be counted. They are winning the battle.

Yet on the same grounds is a wonderful stable, where horses were kept for the use of the lord and lady of the house. But here the struggle is different. Mother nature is winning and gaining back ground where men have built. She is in control. This battle is unfortunately out of the hands of those who care. The giants can only stand by and watch as nature takes her course. Some day hopefully sense shall prevail.

Some of us boardsies were fortunate to steal a glimpse of this battle and record it as part of history. Here are two belonging to myself :
