whats with all the fancy players vai malmsteen hendrix what happened to good old rythm players i know he isnt what you would call technically gifted but joe strummer would have to be my favourite - what a rythym player! he was a lefty playing right handed guitar so he couldnt do all the fiddly bits, they had jones for that.
he hit the chords with ferocious power
everything was downstrokes and the "electric leg".
just listen to any of the clashes tunes white riot career oppurtunities or complete control
    pure class
pity i wasnt around to see him live im only 16 wish id been alive in the 70s music 2day is ****e

    Favourite guitarists anyone?
Having played guitar for nearly 25 years, I've come to realise that it makes no difference what style you play, but how you play it. And the following is a list of various-styled guitarists who have stood out (IMO) above the rest. I discover new guitarists every day from all over the world....and each, not matter how good or bad, all have something to give to ANY budding guitarist.

I recommend listening to the following..and don't be shy...search out their songs and listen to a few of them to get a feel for their playing.

    Tommy Emmanuel (CGP)
    Chet Atkins (CGP)
    Joe Satriani
    Leo Kottke
    Bert Jansch
    Don Ross
    Doc Watson
    Jeff Healy
    SRV
    Rory Gallagher
    Lindsey Buckingham
    Laurence Juber
    Preston Reed
    John Goldie
    Joe Pass
    Clive Carroll
    Chris Smither
    Bruce Mathiske

You may not like all or any, but you have to respect them as players!

    Jazz/Fusion people....

Wayne Kranitz (feel factor, pick and thumb, rock meets jazz)
Oz Noy (technique, hendriz influences, crazy altered scales!)
    Mike Stern (speed freak)
Scott Henderson (funk meets altered jazz)
Django (the king of all things strings!)

    Rock people...

    Page (simply the best)
    SRV

    Other people...

Joe Pass (a regular on this list!)
Joe O'Callaghan (Limerick player, massive technique)
Rick Peckham (ZZ Top in a jazz bar)
    Tommy Emanuel (he is good)

    Steve

    Surprised these guys didn't get a mention;
    Carlos Santana .........just beautiful
Eric Bell....... a savage rocker in his day.

I've had loads of favourites over the years but how about these guys for technique and sheer virtuosity? Although classical pieces, 1 composed for orchestra/piano,1 for violin and one for the humble guitar they are nonetheless only outstanding. Enjoy!!!!

Mark Mcguigan, guitar teacher in Uk. Incredible and inspiring player

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6K4BB0uCups

Neither of these are famous but they really should be. They make some of the likes of Hammet and hendrix look like amatuers.

I Also love Satch, Nuno, Wylde and yngi malmsteen to name a few.

guitardan is my guitar teacher, one of the most versatile and best guitarist around, a shame he was never noticed¬.!!!
