I was going to start a CSI haters thread but I thought I could make it a more diverse thread than that...

C.S.I for me. I feel violently ill when I hear that theme tune come on...Where do I begin,

The really intense colors used to mesmerize the masses of sheeps watching.
    Jerry Bruckheimer behind the scenes.
The smug bastards winding their way through the most ridiculous clues, with dialogue consisting of...

The respected Manly fella: "Looks like there has been a midget murdered"
The nice looking Rookie:"Whats The murder weapon"
The respected Manly fella:*crouches down on hunkers*
The respected Manly fella:"A Lesser Spotted Owl"
The nice looking Rookie:"I'll get it over to the lab"

What I cant stand mostly is when Im in a room with people watching, and their gasping and oohhh'ing and ahhhh'ing and "I never would of guessed"

So, the first smarty ass replies aside (guilty as charged)...have a bash!

I'll take "Friends" off, and replace it with all the other sitcoms and movies it's ripped off over the years. Just think, there'd be at least 300 free hours per week in the schedules without it. Surely everyone's seen every episode 34 times by now, and if you still really want to watch it there are mental hospitals all over the country that can help.

Nice idea for a thread, bravestarr.... Only one show? How do I choose?!? :)

While I'd be tempted to pick 24 the only real choice has to be the X Factor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,649 ✭✭✭Catari Jaguar

No! Not X factor, well keep the bad auditions and scrap the rest of the series.

I'm going to pick a genre not a particular show: Celebrity Reality Shows

    Celebrity Big Brother
    Dancing on Ice
    Strictly Come Dancing
I'm a Celebrity Get me Out of Here!
    The kitchen one
    Celebrity Love Island

All MTV stuff: Shot of love with Tia Tequila, I Love New York, Flava of Love, Run's House, Hogan Knows Best, Kerry Katona, Cribs etc etc...

Anything with Jade Goody, Calum Best or Paris Hilton

Argh! Get out of my face!!

And um... am I the only one who thinks Everybody hates Raymond ruins Paramount comedy??

The killer downfall of those shows is .... NO REAL CELEBRITIES!
Celebrity Masterchef is really good though (although thats down to the show's format, and the people that do well genuinely CAN cook)

Nope. Will and Grace does that all by itself.

Any talent show where the contestants do covers of already released songs. Can no one write an original song any more?

Stars in their eyes, is my pet hate.

I thought Will and Grace was on Living...

Liz from Atomic Kitten that won Celebrity master chef has a slot on GMTV doing an on-the-cheap cookery show. I'm a sucker for cooking shows, especially Gordon Ramsay.

Can't believe two people have already mentioned Friends!
Fair enough, you can get rid of seasons 5-10. But I will never ever get tired of watching seasons 1-4 over and over.

I would get rid of Lost. I used be a fan, before they killed off the interesting characters and kept focussing on the dull ones. Plus, Jack has to be the one of the most boring and irritating characters in TV history.

Any reality TV shows expecially Big Brother and any Irish reality TV show.
Anything on MTV that is not actually to do with Music (especially those idiotic shows like "The Hill" etc).
Agree with Everybody hates Raymond and not mad about Two and a half men being shown the whole time on Paramount.

For me it has to be XPOSÉ on TV3 with their bloody EXCLUSIVE this and EXCLUSIVE that……. Bunch of anorexic fashion victims who wouldn’t know an exclusive if it fell out of their arses! :D

Just about everything home produced - how come no-one's mentioned the Late Late yet...? Or Fairly Sh1tty?
Mind you, RTE would probably replace it with somethign equally dire.

And agree with the anything-on-MTV3 line.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

It should be Friends but E4 would of course fill the void with more Big Brother so its a win/loose situation at best.

    I'd go with Friends.

The old ones were alright but it just went downhill really fast after Ross and Rachael broke up. And now they're always repeating it.

    The Simpsons.

    seriously

I never found it as funny, as subversive and as genre-changing as others have claimed.

IMHO it is nowhere close to being the 'best TV comedy of all time'. It litters the TV schedules in the same way as Friends and Scrubs do.

    I would not miss it.

    BIG F***ING BROTHER!
    Location location location
    Relocation relocation
    Any and all of those.
Actually if you just kept southpark, fam guy, american dad, the sopranos, the wire and the daily show you could get rid of absolutely everything else pretty much.

They actually do. They show maybe one music video every few hours.

It's still a disgrace if a channel. They shouldn't be allowed call themselves Music TeleVision is they won't have any music shows on it.

I agree it's a great show, but I had a few gripes about the sereis just ended. Did you believe that Liz had never even used an oven before? I didn't quite buy it. I thought they over-played that note, and it lost a bit of credibility.

They seemed so eager to turn the contestants into quick recognizable characters that it began to look cliched too. Heart-of-gold newcomer Liz v. pernickety Andi, etc.

Is it on the wane, do you think?

I'd second Xpose. I watched it once and my head exploded from the sheer stupidity of it all.

Plus the curly haired one told Will Ferrell that the Irish for 'hair ball' would indeed be 'gruaig ball'. If you're going to start with the Irish, at least have more than one word. Bimbo.

But please get rid off all the "reality shows" they are an insult to people who actually have an higher iq than shoesize.

Ah, come on. Give Friends a break. It's still funny when you watch them again. It saves you buying the DVD too because they show it so much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,686 ✭✭✭EdgarAllenPoo

Simpsons (hasn't been remotely funny in years)
Family Guy (I used to love it but Christ on a bike it's gone downhill)
    Neighbours (same as Family Guy)
Every reality tv show to have ever come from the mind of some feckless tv exec, thankfully I only normally have to suffer through the BBC stuff but even those are god awful, I want to punch that yoke Arlene Phillips right in her 104 year old face.

As for channels, if it was possible I would love to wipe both TV3 and Real Estate TV of the face of the earth.

    Eastenders.
Hate it, hate it, hate it.

The whiny wingey cockeney accents, the depressing storylines, the "humour".

I dont watch it, havent seen it years, but the fact that its out there, polluting, dumbing down, that gets to me.
