Received mine this morning... stung by customs though unfortunately. €150 on a $600 before 40% discount order ($440 inc delivery after discount).

Still saved about €140 for similar stuff in Ireland so happy enough.

Can somebody answer this: My order is $355 including shipping, (247 euro according to xe.com) Customs are looking for 152 euro for it? This surely is not right. Can sombody advise me on what to do or who I should contact? I mean thats more than 50% charge.

Never mind, I rang Port Laois and they are going to sort it, it should only be a customs charge of 12% and then 21% VAT on that. You can call them directly on 051 862 850 if you need to query anything. They are very helpful I must say.

Ordered some stuff off AE Wednesday evening, arrived in customs today (Monday) at 11:49AM for processing. Reckon I'll get the stuff tomorrow (Tuesday)?

Going away on Wednesday and have a lack of clothes, so yeah. Just wondering.

Stuff came today! Bad news is that I bought $158 worth of clothing and was stung with €43 with customs. Isn't that a bit much?

You are charged 12% customs charges, what ever they are, on the total ammount you paid (including shipping) and then an additional 21% on top of that. So if your total was $158 which is about €111 + 12% = €124 + 21% = €150 - €111 = €39 (so about right). I did notice that on the package I got had the price before discount on the outside, so Im going back to An Post about that. Ill let you know how I get on. Probably going to be a long fruitless process. I really can't understand firstly why you have to pay Customs and VAT charges on the shipping, which i've already paid for and secondly why i have to pay 12% customs charges in the first place.

AFAIK you do not pay it on the shipping - AE do though put price before discount so you get charged based on that. This has been discussed plenty in a previous long thread re AE.

I would not fancy your chances chasing An Post, or Revenue, for money back as they will just read you the rules.

I just noticed on an email from AE that they are now using UPS instead of USPS (apologies to any dyslexics) for shipping, don't know how this will affect customs charges though. The guy in AN Post told me that you are charged for customs and vat charges on the shipping also, which I think is absurd.

I got a delivery last week that was USPS, I was afraid it'd be UPS after
the general mail they sent informing they are now using UPS for international orders.

With UPS you have a much higher chance of customs on every order.
My last two orders in October whilst not much higher in value (about €150
each) were for bulky items (large hooded tops and jackets) and I was
charged customs on both. Seems like the bigger the box the bigger the chance;)

If anyone gets an AE order shipped via UPS can they please post here.

When I go to checkout and continue to payment it states regular mail, nothing about UPS.
