He lived there for 3 years, moving from Brisbane to Perth in a souped-up station wagon. 30 years later, he returned to retrace his steps; this is a memoir, travelogue, rant, paean, elegy, and perhaps the closest thing to an autoibiography that Niall will ever write.
    About the Author:
Niall Griffiths was born in Liverpool in 1966, studied English, and now lives and works in Aberystwyth. His first four novels are Grits (2000), a tale of addicts and drifters in rural Wales; Sheepshagger (2001), the story of Ianto, a feral mountain boy; Kelly & Victor (2002); and Stump (2003), which won two Book of the Year awards.Gritswas made into a film for television, and Kelly & Victor and Stump are being made into films. His last novel is Runt (2006).
Niall Griffiths has also written travel pieces, restaurant and book reviews, and radio plays. He has been published by Bloomsbury and Random House and his work continues to receive strong critical acclaim throughout the UK.

Do people have a favourite band from that era ? Nostalgia for the old folks and an education for the young folks and Did you see the big poster in the windows of Dunnes for the event.

Enjoyed that gig, bit of a blast. My mates were in Yellow Moriah (we were all 16 or so, how Pat Kehoe put up with us in The Imperial I'm not sure :);) ). Pat Jackman and Martin Jackman formed ska band "The Jackmans" later. Martin can sometimes be seen playing in Mackens , and plays guitar occasionally for other bands. Pat works as a sound designer/composer for drama productions etc.

    This bank holiday weeked
    http://www.independent.ie/national-news/rebels-and-redcoats-bring-1798-back-to-life-3186260.html

HISTORY will come to life when the rebels and the Redcoats re-enact the Irish Rebellion of 1798 this August bank holiday weekend.
Pipers and actors on horseback will lead the march through Enniscorthy -- while pikemen are set to join re-enactors from all over Ireland on Vinegar Hill in Co Wexford.
Three canons will launch an assault on the landmark hill during the first ever re-enactment of 1798, which will be held this Sunday.
The group will split into their sides at the old bridge, the rebels continuing up Shannon Hill, while the redcoats will proceed along the Oulart Road. They will meet on the battlefield under Vinegar Hill."
Other events taking place include 'Life as an 18th Century Redcoat', which will be held in Enniscorthy Castle this Saturday.

Its mainly for people who are into fishing, shooting, and all types of Hunting. With a variety of dog trials, specialist stalls and a mixture of music and competitions. This is the biggest event to reach these parts. Most of the game fairs in the UK have been cancelled because of the weather this year so fingers crossed this goes ahead.
