This thread mayget lost quite quickly, but I still think it merits being created.

Today, 12th Aug 2008 saw lowest pressure in my records (since 1999) for June to September period. 983.8mb.
In fact only 3 previous occasions has pressure dropped below 990mb during summer. (June to July)
    14.8.07 988.2mb
    18.8.04 989.3mb
    24.6.04 985.7mb

Also now on 15 consecutive days with minimum temperature above 10.0C. Easily a record

And 16 consecutive raindays (days with 0.2mm or more), a record for summer and not far off overall record of 19 days.

28th July to 8th Aug, 12 consecutive wetdays (days with 1.0mm or more) a record for summer, overall record 14 days

A low of 985.6hpa recorded here today. Will sift through the Weatherlink for more data in the coming days.

Lowest temperature so far this month was 10.6c - so thats 12 days of above 10c minima here.

Temp has just dipped below 10C (now 9.6!) for the first time since the morning of the 21st of July (although with a min of 10.1C on the night of the 1st), making 21 days of above 10C minimums.

Also recorded my highest hourly rainfall of 14mm on the 6th of this month, though as I only have my station a year that's not saying much!

Chilly 7C this morning, so the run above 10C ends.

I've still a bit to go for Sugust rainfall record.
Still shy of 70mm, 99.5mm to beat, but it is my wettest summer on record, beating last year.

My wettest summer on record, beating last year, and the way this month is going it may well be my coolest, wettest, dullest and windiest August on record

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,335 ✭✭✭✭Supercell

Wettest month here since I moved to Annamoe -145.3 mm so far, 200mm + is likely by the end of the month.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,033 ✭✭✭Snowbie

For now it's been my wettest month with 170.1mm to date, but it shall go up before months end.

As with MM above i feel the same will occur here too.

Also Wettest September on record with 136.6mm of rainfall. 18 rain day(s) in Sept.

Not wettest, 107.8mm, drier than both 2000 and 2006.
By far and away the coolest. 12.9C mean, previous lowest 13.7C in 2002.
Records back to 1999, also dullest in my records (2004), though substantially more sunshine than August. 124hrs vs 94 hours in August.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,033 ✭✭✭Snowbie

    New station record 00-24Z
Lowest October overnight min of 3.7C, previous of 4.4C (Oct 2005). Data going back 4 years(2004) at this location.
Records can be viewed here. Data updates automatically thanks to PhP custom tags created for me from the author of Weather Display.

However i think it will drop even lower over the coming nights before months end.
Coldest Day 6am to 6pm and coldest night 6pm to 6am should also be broken to day.
Mean temp for the month should also be broken.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,293 ✭✭✭arctictree

Yep, I'd say that will go lower by time the month is out. Mothman should also record some low October max'es. Only 4.4c here at 10am.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

14 grass frosts so far (to 27th), previous record 12 last year.

I expect more entries here before months end.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,913 ✭✭✭Danno

New station low of 1.2c here last night.

Several of my temp records should be broken before months end.
New October record overnight min of 2.2C temporarily, that should be broken again tonight.

Should also be the coldest day (6am to 6pm today) followed by the coldest night for October(6pm to 6am on Wednesday) also.

Lowest mean for the month too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

With tonights grass frost, it'll bring total to 16.
0.4 hours short of sunniest Oct. (2004) Surely see that during next 3 days.

8.2C max today, lowest on record.

Lowest min to break is -0.7C on 24th last year. and lowest grass min to break is -5.6C on 24th 2002. Both under threat tonight, but only if wind drops.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,033 ✭✭✭Snowbie

Here's an obscure one I've just noticed.
This is not from AWS but from manual obs taken once a day at 0900z

The daily mean temp has stayed in double figures for past 7 days, and may be 8 days if temp reaches 11C today.

First time I've recorded 7 consecutive days with mean 10C or above for Nov to Mar period. 9 years of records

Usually the last and first occurance is Mid Oct and Late April, though last year it was early June

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

    29th Nov 2008

    Air min -3.9C
    Grass min -10.9C :eek::eek::eek:
Well below previous night which were both Nov records.

The grass min ranks 5th in my overall records and air min 10th.

A bit more on the grass, min. The only month I've recorded lower is Feb. Dec record is -10.3C and Jan -9.6C and the air min would rank 2nd in both those months.

Extremely cold night here on the mid west. Recorded an all time low temp of -6.2 C. Looks likes it could bit every bit as cold tonight

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,033 ✭✭✭Snowbie

Data back to 2004 from this location
Low min -0.9C new Nov record 30/11/08
Coldest ever day (6am to 6pm) 0.4C on 29/11/08, new alltime

Just reading in Met Eireann's summary that the coldest day you recorded Snowbie was also the coldest November day in the Dublin area since 1941 on the 29th:

    http://www.met.ie/climate/monthly_summarys/nov08.pdf

    Pretty remarkable achievment I think.
