Hi V Bull cracking shot of the black tern. Those are not little ringed plovers but ringed plover mixing with Dunlin. Little ringed plovers rarely show up in Ireland.

Stunning buzzard that also looks like it recently had a good meal

I know I've asked about cameras in the past but ... Is it the lens or camera that makes a good shot?

I think its a bit of both but generally a decent lens is required

its a combination of lens, camera, person and location. You do need a fairly decent camera and also a good lens. I would recommend you visit this web site for general information on lenses and cameras. www.kenrockwell.com. when I am buying gear I always consult his site and it has never let me down. Also by asking people on this site and others you will find out what people are using, I think you will find that most people are using high to mid range Canon gear like the canon 5d MK2 or canon D7.

    Five Spot Burnet x 2
They're 6-spot Burnet. 2 spots in outer part of wing. The 2 spots nearest the head are often fused to make it seem like one.
    Possibly a Meadow Brown Butterfly
    Yes it is

This is my fave thread on boards by a mile, love it, the standard is so feckin high on this thing I almost feel ashamed to post my stuff... But in reality we all know its the effort that counts, I love looking at every photo here, whether it was shot on a phone or a multi-thousand euro camera. Well done all.

    Here are my newest few.
