I got my first camera a couple of days ago and these are a few shots I took today as I try and get used to it. The settings are automatic as I don't know how to use it properly yet

    Lovely pics Nightforce.

The plant is a Crocosmia. Lots of varieties, possibly a Lucifer, but probably Montbretia.

Took this photo a few days ago and didn't realise until I enlarged the image at home what it was.

And I was taken aback and a bit sad when I saw it.

    But I'm a bit of a softie.

It's nature and life goes on.

Some might prefer to avoid it-- as it is a sandmartin having to rid the 'nest' of a dead chick.

So there is a good gap to the photo

I could be wrong keps, but it looks like a faecal sac and not a dead chick?

I would say there is a 100% chance that you are right and I ( once again ) am wrong.

    But delighted to be:)

You would want to see the effort the parents put into collecting food in flight and delivering it into the nest
    - just does your heart good.

Can anyone name these 2 plants? I suspect the salmon/pink flower might be a campion, but I'm not sure.

The plant with the red-coloured flowers is a Scarlet Pimpernel, and the plant with the lime-green bracts looks like a Sun Spurge (Euphorbia sp.), but I may be corrected on that one?!

Was out looking for the Kingfisher earlier when I spotted something in the water moving against the flow. I moved position and got these photos. Clearly someone released this Terrapin and he seems to be thriving in an Irish River . He is about 15 to 20 cm long and looks very healthy.....

That's a yellow belly slider turtle, an invasive species here. Hopefully they won't become a major problem.
