    this sounds pretty cool:

According to the Norwegian music retailer Platekompaniet, Metallica will release a limited-edition two-CD, one-DVD, deluxe "Death Magnetic" box set in September. The box set will be packaged as a coffin box and will also include an exclusive t-shirt, flag and USB memory stick.

The details of the deluxe box set are as follows:

1 "Death Magnetic" CD (exclusive digipack version)

1 CD with demos of songs from "Death Magnetic" (10 songs)

1 "Making of 'Death Magnetic'" DVD featuring never-before-seen material

1 exclusive "Death Magnetic" t-shirt (only available with the box set)

    1 "Death Magnetic" flag

A set of "Death Magnetic" guitar picks

1 fold-out, coffin box, poster with pictures of the band members

1 USB memory stick with Metallica logo (enables digital download of "Death Magnetic" album)

A Finnish retailer called Record Shop X has listed Wednesday, September 17 as the release date for Metallica's ninth studio album, "Death Magnetic". Although an official release date has yet to be announced by the band or its label, the Finnish date would indicate that the album would arrive in the U.S. on Tuesday, September 16, with most of continental Europe getting the CD one day earlier on September 15. Some countries, including Germany, Austria and Switzerland, would see the record issued on Friday, September 12.

i'm not sure trujillo will have much influence on songwriting, quite possibly none but i think his influence or vibe will have a very positive effect on the new album. their playing has gotten considerably tighter the more they've played together over the last few years. they seem genuinely comfortable together.

Maybe it's "the new song" where trujillo stops playing and says his guitar isn't D tuned (live show).

they should hire timbaland to work on their album...

Replace Lars with a nice drum machine? :D

I'm not looking forward to the new album at all, Hopefully it won't be a St Anger too, Because that was a truly bad album

all u metallica haters are boring and old. and it happens in every metallica related thread.

oh blah blah blah load sucks, oh st anger sucks, oh i wish metallica were 20 again and hetfield's voice hadn't broken. stfu losers.

There's a big difference between being a hater and being someone who can distinguish between good and bad music, regardless of the name on the cd ;)

    load sucks,
    This is true.
    oh st anger sucks,
    This is also true.
oh i wish metallica were 20 again and hetfield's voice hadn't broken.
I don't know any Metallica fans who've ever said that.

Death Magnetic album cover up on metallica.com
Pretty cool artwork. Simple but cool.

The coffin and the magnetic feel around it...I like it.

Must say I laughed at the line on the News page that said Kirk & Lani Hammett(thats spelled wrong isnt it?) gave birth to a baby. Congrats to them on that, but how two people gave birth to one person escapes me!

I always thought the Load cover sucked, I thought it was lame lookin fire.

Until I discovered it's jizzum and blood squished between plexi-glass. Sick! But cool...

Edit: Eugh. "Load!" I get it.. Duh

At least Metallica have got their old band logo back. The t-shirts with the St. Anger metallica writing were bent.

Gotta say I really like the artwork for the new album. I'll wait until I hear it to pass any judgement on it though.

Yup, this might be old news but does anyone know a release date yet?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 427 ✭✭pyure

Nothing official yet afaik, but the last I heard was an expected date of September 15 for the European launch.
I really hope the special edition coffin box set is available here, heard a rumour that it'll be only available in the US :(

it should be,there's guys in scandanavia ordering it off of a swedish and norwegian site so it should have a european release. metallicas biggest market is europe despite the size of the states, one of the reasons why they keep coming back to europe so frequently.

I've preordered on cdwow.ie, if you do you get put into a draw for a Hetfield replica destroyer...

Leximan, I'd delete the promoters name before it causes trouble..... :)

Replace Larz with Mike Portnoy..Now can you imagine the result of that!! I actually think Hetfield and Co wouldnt be able to keep up with portnoy!!

Somebody pointed out to me earlier - the new cover looks a bit like a ladies private bits...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

And the middle "A" is all wrong. Wrong, I tells ya!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,658 ✭✭✭Patricide

I agree haha. Still id say portnoy wouldnt suit the band. Replace lars with someone like paul bostaph or someone though....actually i dont think the band could keep up still.

    Track list has been revealed!!!
    Click

Here are the song titles in the running order . . .

    That Was Just Your Life
    The End Of The Line
    Broken, Beat & Scarred
    The Day That Never Comes
    All Nightmare Long
    Cyanide
    The Unforgiven III
    The Judas Kiss
    Suicide & Redemption
    My Apocalypse

    Hhhmmmm.......
No Holy Revolver, Was lookin forward to that one!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,658 ✭✭✭Patricide

On the plus side, theres the unforgiven 3. some of the names are a bit long winded but they sound much better than st. angers invisible kit etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,577 ✭✭✭lord lucan

song titles don't really mean much without hearing a tune so i'm not gonna read too much into it. unforgiven 3 will surely get a few people going:p

holy revolver may well be there but with a different title. that could of just been a working title.

all we need now is a release date:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,848 ✭✭✭✭Doctor J

All Nightmare Long... or Enter Sandman II? Unforgiven III, lyrical ideas thin on the ground without Phil Towle contributing? :pac:

I actually thought that the second one wasn't half bad, but a THIRD one???? Pffft. Seems to me that Messrs Hetfield & Ulrich are running out of ideas......? Shame really, cos they were/are a fantastic songwriting partnership.

They couldn't wait 5 years until they release the next album, could they? They'd be pushing 50 by then.

Being 50 didn't stop Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, etc etc etc
