Alpha males generally have the smallest cocks but usually drive souped up cars, go figure...

My preference for passing unnoticed kinda makes it hard to aspire to be an alpha male type.

An alpha-male might also be more likely to knock the knackers off someone out side a pub...

An alpha male, when asked to give charity at christmas responds:
"Are there no prisons..Are there no workhouses?"
And punches the chugger in the face.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no... depends on who I'm around.
When there are some real alphas around, I'll just roll onto my back and pee a little to show my deference.

If you want a serious answer....."The dominant male in a group of animals."

Then yes, i tend to be the one making decisions when others are all "what will we do, what will we do", cool head in a crisis, confident and aware of my place in my own social structure.

    So yes.

Very valid point though. An alpha-male with regard to people over animals normally has to do very little conciously to find himself in that spot.

You just kind of end up there because you match the required needs of your social group at the time.

    Nonsense.

99% are lazy that's why they don't make decisions

If you think you have a cool head in a crisis, you just haven't been in a serious enough crisis yet.

confidence is part of being an alpha male but does not an alpha male make.

Eh, bit odd of you to say that without actually knowing who i am, or what i have been through, don't you think?

I always have a cool head in a crisis, the adrenaline dump comes afterwards.

Everyone has a threshold. what you have previously been through is irrelevant...

We can all say we have a cool head in a crisis when we haven't been in a crisis that was enough to force us to loose our cool.

    it's pretty straight forward.

Notice how we all tend to pull the piss when a question requires labelling ourselves as one particular thing. If we say we're Alpha males, will we come across as brutish and Neanderthal? If we say we're not, will we seem as if we're all nancy pants and emotionally self-indulgent?

The tendency seems to be to take an easier middle way in such threads and reply with some 'witty' remarks (something i did earlier on!)

Aplogies, but i really am missing the point here. If i read what you are saying correctly then no one should be allowed to say they have a cool head in a crisis, as their former life experience doesn't count.....and eventually they will find something that breaks them?

Out of interest.....you still have no idea as to the types of crisis i may have had to deal with.

What would you consider to be a relevant crisis to qualify someone as having a "cool head"?

you can call yourself cool hand luke all you like.

I'm sure your indecisivie friends are all very impressed by your cool head.

But it's a stupid thing to say as everyone has a point where they will loose the cool.....

I can't make it any simpler.

I should stop posting in AH.

Gas how there's more alphas than not. I thought the point was that one would lead many.

Unfortunately being a loud mouthed tosser is what passes for being a leader these days.

You've obviously not worked in the civil service or any large corporation then ;)

I wonder, if life is so simple that you can reduce human behavior into theories such as that Apha male rubbish, why psychology exists.
Maybe it is just so complicated for the layman that fu<kwits need to hold onto something to make sense of their world.

You don't have too much issue casually insulting people do you?

Don't worry, plenty of my "indecisive" friends post on boards, so i'm sure they will appreciate you comment. :D

You have yet to offer me any real reason as to why taking such a variable as performance under pressure is bad marker of an "alpha male" type other than "everyone has a point where they will lose there cool".

This is not really an answer to the question i asked you.

    Cool Hand Luke.

    I like that.

But i'll just stick with Dragan thanks. ;)

I see. Care to offer some proof of said generalisation? Or is this your monthly phase of low-level trolling/personal abuse? Strange. I thought that was usually more at the start/end of the month than towards the middle...

I think it's a fair comment that the majority of people who use boards are not alpha males.

    Most are nerds.

I don't believe nerds can be alpha males. Yes, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are loaded, but they're not alpha males. They're just rich nerds.
