Under no circumstances is the name of the retailer to be made public here.

    Relax, I only said I was curios::eek:

I know, but just incase he decided to reply and say who it was.

I'm baffled as to why he didn't just ask for a replacement in the first place, after being offered one directly from the retailer.

You'd have it right now and you'd be able to play at Gtac this weekend. Problem solved.

He wasnt offered a replacement. He was told it couldnt be replaced because it was firing under the majority of the time. According to the retailer that meant it wasnt in need of a replacement. He wanst offered a replacement but a credit note.

now i brought it to the shop and they said that they can only offer me a credit note or a replacement but not a full refund because they say its firing under the limit most of the time.

    That's what I thought until I re-read his post.

    OK, ya sorry.
What he actually meant there is that he was offered a credit note or a replacement, the replacement being a different gun, not the same type as the one he actually wanted.

Sorry there, he says he should have made that clearer.

good news all i have just finished talkin with the company involved and they have offered to down grade it to 300 fps which is good enough for me.how ever regarding the fps of the on i have now he said "Regarding the Airsoft Law this item is fully within the boundaries of
    legality for Ireland.
It is based on the average result of multiple shots. In your case if you
take the item for 100 shots and divide the fps/shot then it is always under
    328fps" is thsi true

    No, its not true.
Whilst an average would be taken if it were chronoed by the ballistics lab, it would be something like the average across 10 shots, not 100.

Yup, and you'd expect the results to be fairly close to each other.

Remember, if you turn up at a site to play and it chrono's over 1 joule even once, you will not be allowed to play.

Not sure how the guards would respond either. 1/100 shots over 1 joule still makes it a firearm....

would be interesting to know, we will quickly criticize and bring to people attention foreign stores that do not meet expectations, should be no different for Ireland you should be able to just leave a note in the retailer feedback forum

Unfortunately it could get very messy for boards.ie if you were to publicly name the store on here, so I'll have to repeat as before, the store name should not be given out publicly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 70 ✭✭mossy619

thats fair enough i understand that. its nice to see yere standing up for the little people who try to do tings by the book and get screwed...i just dont want other people getn messed round like i did tinking there getn a good deal and turnin out itl cost them more money on phone calls and petrol than the gun is worth:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

It's a messy area alright from a legal point of view.

However, so long as nothing slanderous or libelous is said about the store, it is fine for someone to publicly state that they have not been happy with the service of a particular store.

For example, if I was to say that I don't like shopping in my local supermarket, it would be fine to name them.

But if I started making specific claims about them that could be damaging to their business, reputation, staff or owner, then I would need definitive proof.

In other words, an opinion is fine. An accusation may not be.

"I'd recommend not buying from XXXX store" would be fine. Though perhaps in should be done in that retailers thread rather than in this one.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

An opinion backed up by facts is fine, an opinion alone is not.

Anyway, let's not get into what is/isn't libellous, myself and the other mods will discuss this and see.

well im not 2 pushed bout it now i got my money back i was just so annoyed the other day.anyboday that wants to no the name just pm me.
here is an xample of the cumtomer service...... i asked the shop where ther located.... was it such and such in a certain place or was it a different place because i could only find one address on google earth.... the reply i got was "our address is on our site"

i ended up goin to the place on google earth and it turns out that place was 30 km away from where the shop is located......

i apologise if anyone is getn confused but just read it slowly and you will see what i mean

Glad you sorted it out moss; word of mouth should be enough to ensure what happened to you won't happen so easily to other people. You got your moolah back anyway. Pity you weren't given it back sooner, but that's just how it rolls sometimes.
I just ordered from eirsoft.ie and let me you... the people you dealt with could learn A LOT from the high quality customer service I got.

i mainly buy from eirsoft and airsofteire they offer a fair and efficient service at a good price i have never had to return any goods but both have given me little extras to sort any issues i may have had .
i would recomend both of them

i delt with ias once and found them very good also

Amen to that. I believe the shop mossy dealt with, which i won't name as the subject is pretty much closed, don't actually specialise in Airsoft aegs and equipment. it seems you're in good hands with the lads of eirsoft, mia, and other tried and trusted retailers.

I think this thread has pretty much served it's purpose now, so I'll lock it.

mossy619: If you wish, you may post a review of the retailer (and name them) in the Experiences/advice with airsoft retailers thread in the review's section. Keep it to the bare facts though.
