Domino's Pizza is doing a special deal - any pizza, any size, 10 euro including delivery. They allow you to pick up to four toppings and their largest pizza is 13.5 inch - Can't go wrong for 10 euro - large pizza is enough for three!!

PS: Not sure if's all week, but saw the sign yesterday and today on Dublin Road

Anyone know which Indian/Chinese/Thai/Asian offer best vegetarian options in Drogheda?

I think most chinese restuarants offer a veg dish for all their sauces so if you like any specific chinese i'm sure they'll do you up a vegetarian option.
an indian might be a good idea as they offer specific vegetarian dishes - indus have a few nice vegetarian dishes and have some lovely veg starters too.

    Thanks dagb20.

I gave Indus a second chance recently, I guess two years is how long it took me to forget my first visit there (where I came back hungrier than I went in, after having spend more money that I had set aside).

They have changed their layout a bit, there's now upstairs, and more dining space over all, and over all they still look pretty nice. Really love the colored glass wall hanging they have - really tastefully decorated place!

The place was empty when we went in - it was only 8pm on a weekend evening, probably more of a reflection of the times we are in rather than Indus as such, but we were probably the only diners there for the next two hours! Which meant we had adequate attention from the staff, orders were collected and served well in time, and the staff were very professional indeed (It doesn't hurt to be a bit more friendly, but that's not a deal breaker). Their menu is nice - the actual menu that is - that comes in brushed aluminum looking hard cover thingee - really cool. The contents of the menu however, was just normal. A lot of the usual Indian dishes, with one or two new ones.

The positives kind of fizzle out from now on I am afraid. The prices are still over the top, though it has come down from the 'tiger years', it's still way over the top considering where we are, and what they serve. The fine dining experience they claim to provide, must be mostly around the presentation of the food and/or decor of the place, because the food itself was normal - I would have thought it would be different or exceptional even to match the price and the 'fine dining promise', but whatever we ordered were just normal. The food was nice, it was tasty and the portions were correct - they have certainly improved on the portions. But the food would have to be exceptional to meet the expectations set by their prices and small selection - one would expect them to be some sort of fancy specialist place serving exquisite foreign food, which would be so cool if true, but may be they will get there.. some day!

So I guess I have warmed up to them considerably compared to my first visit there - but not awesome enough for me to recommend to my friends - yet!

PS: On the side note to their prices, they have a side order of 'Raita' for €3.50. Here's how you make raita. Take one onion and chop it as you please. Add couple of spoons of thick yogurt, and a pinch of salt. Done!! Raita ready!! You could now fancy this up to the nines by adding cayenne pepper, coriander, cumin seeds, whatever else you fancy, but it's still a raita. I would never ever pay €3.50 for that really! To compare, it's as bad as paying €10 for a portion of champ!

Did you ever try the Punjabi House on the Dublin Rd?
We find it much better than Indus and consistently good for take aways and eat-in.
I was in Liverpool recently and had an Indian meal in a restaurant (the maharaja) that was featured in one of Gordon Ramsey's programmes.
It was fine..nothing to write home about, made me realise how lucky we are having a really good Indian restaurant 2 mins from home.

The Punjabi House is the dogs. The lady who runs it is great craic as well! Got a vindaloo takeaway from it recently and asked for extra spuds instead of so much chicken. Not a hope - usual amount of chicken, plus a bag load of spuds! It was class. And proper hot.

Still think Indus is quality as well though.

I haven't been to Punjabi house in a very long time, though I do remember good food being served in a slightly congested area. Will keep them in mind.

Great report back up,To me Indus is a great spot, and yes its on the pricey side, if it was cheaper more folk would go, they do have offers, not sure if they are still running, like 25% off your bill on Wednesdays......but then do you really need to be there on Weds ?

I cannot believe this place is still open. Myself and my daughter went in there about a year ago she brought me in with her first weeks wages and the service and food we got was horrible! Microwaved undercooked potatoes burned coffee and really bad service. I complained in store and asked to speak to the rude waitress' manager and was told she was the manager so...explained in a letter to the owners that it was my daughters first wages(she was 16) that she spent in the restaurant and I got a standard letter (which I found the other day) saying that they were very sorry yada yada no refund or vouchers! I am not the only one that has found service and food really bad.

I'm amazed myself as well tbh, went in for dinner about a year ago and was complete muck. I then decided to give it a go for breakfast some months after the dinner thinking who could mess up a fry up? Unfortunately they did, so I'm convinced the only business they must do are people who are trying it out for the first time.

Dropped in the other day, the food is still good but I'm not sure its a s good as it once was, pizza is very tasty, very pleasant staff, average pricng, furnishings and energy of the place getting a little dated, but still a tasty spot.

Relish in Bettystown is a lovely place this time of year, I was there at the weekend for lunch, nice sea views and food is nice too, but it is the athmosphere that attracts me.

Had my first experience of Scholars recently. Words can barely express how underwhelmed the whole experience was. Starters were fine but nothing out of this world. Duck spring rolls that I can honestly say were the same as what I'd get in the local chinese. I had a chicken main which was to come with lemon and herbs and a jus. What I got was chicken, mash potato's and gravy..... and not very much of it either. Chicken was nice and moist but utterly bland and nothing spectacular. Tried the profiterols for dessert and they wern't great either, tasted like frozen or ready made. Just really far from my expectations and was so disappointed by the whole night. I might not be right but it doesn't seem anybody has a designated waiter/waitress? At times it looked like a bit of a free for all. Can honestly say I will never be back.

Others will be happy to know that I hear the Eastern Seaboard has fallen from grace?! Seems that they've cut the table times down to ridiculously short windows to feed more in less time. Haven't actually been in a while so it could all be hear say!

I heard the same myself. Apparently they're reducing their portions too. For example the previously popular fish cakes had shrunk to almost half their original portions. Although I've yet to see it for myself, so I won't give up on them yet.
I always liked Eastern Seaboard, particular for their sweet potato wedges.

Alledgedly, someone stole their menu and opened up a place in Cavan as well, or so the rumour mill tells me.

Don't get me wrong, it's a goldmine in today's economy, but is it starting to compromise quality over quantity?

We were there on a Tuesday evening recently and the place was buzzing. I must admit I was quite surprised given today's economy.

Glad I don't live across the road from it. I'd be tempted every evening.
