Looks like some good deals there,
I've been in the market for a laptop with the following specs for ~E700. Mainly used for internet browsing, viewing/editing pictures, composing movies etc. No gaming.
    3GB RAM
    Dual Core processor
    ~250GB HD
    Integrated Webcam
    Vista

The link here would be delivered for ~E700
    http://outlet.dell.com/Emea_Dfo/EuDispatcher?target=SpecPage&serviceTag=ZRR0DJH0&sessionID=11YcLtTQ!832115979!2003320021!1210930016728

Does anyone have experience with this outlet store? Any comments on the system?

Does anyone know if Vista Home Premium desktops come with remote control? I am just thinking of getting one of these and hook it up to the TV. Also the outlet site doesn't give any information about the sound cards but I don't think you can configure a system without any sound card on the main site so I presume they should at least have the basic one..?

I'm just curious as to the Dell Outlet, I've never used this before or really even heard of it.. Is it all second hand / refurbs or what?

What sort of warranty do they come with? 3 months? 1 year?

And are they actually much cheaper than getting a brand new Dell? Are the savings worth it if they don't come with a full warranty etc..?

If you bothered to check the link that was posted you would have read:

"Dell Factory Outlet is a division of Dell Products, selling refurbished computer equipment. This is product, which has been returned to Dell for a variety of reasons including cancellation and specification changes.

All products have been tested and repackaged to Dell factory standards and come with a full Service Pack"

they come with a standard one year warranty , i've never been able to find so much as a scuff .. in effect they are the same as new. as a bonus they usually thrown in speakers for free.

BTW for people buying desktops with no monitors, I was surprised at the good picture quality of this 20" lcd for €126

These seem like great value. Thanks OP!
I'm thinking 17inch screen, 2GB RAM and the hottest CPU available.
Is there any particular CPU that represents better value of money for home use?

The m1330 is a quality laptop. Outlet systems still have a warranty and if there is a problem with it then dell will have to take it back.

Appreciate the reply ,theres savings of at least €250 compared to list prices:)

Just be careful, sometimes the outlet machines cost more than the ones in their normal website.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,305 ✭✭✭yoshytoshy

According to the pricing on DELL.IE small business section. The machine I priced with the same spec was over 1000 euro. Dell outlet , 640 euro all in.:)

A lot of the stuff on outlet isn't even refurb mostly cancelled orders / wrongly specced machines so absolutely nothing wrong with them - a lot of Dell staff get their stuff there too!

    Sweet offer.

I ordered a Inspiron 17" with 2mp camera, 2GB of RAM, 9 cell battery. It also seems to state having 2x 120GB Harddrives, is this even possible in a laptop? Even if it's only 1 HDD, I'm still happy. Came in at €540 delivered.

The one downside to this one is that it has a Turion 64 X2 1.8GHz CPU, not sure how these compare with similar speed C2D's? I notice that L2 cache is half that of C2D, but would it make much difference?

Can you get at the Outlet using the EPP, or is that too much to ask?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,807 ✭✭✭chump

how are the confirmation emails looking for you guys?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,305 ✭✭✭yoshytoshy

All I got was a pre-confirmation email ,stating that I would recieve a proper conformation within 3 days.
My card hasn't been charged at all ,not even a check on it.

I'm sure the outlet store is differently run to the production line of dell ,I Hope:(

    Now you're being greedy! :D

As for confirmation email, I got one about 5 mins after ordering. It just came with a temporary order ref number. From what I can figure out from this email, is that I will get posted a second order confirmation (as opposed to email)
You will receive a second confirmation by post after your order has been processed (typically within 3-4 days of submitting your order). This will include your Dell order number, customer number, purchase order number, final total price and estimated delivery date

Ordered 2 laptops yesterday in different orders (thanks OP!), initial email responses only - nothing further yet.

On one order I forgot to include a landline number (they say one is needed for 'fraud protection' which is pretty ridiculous in this day and age) - anyone know if they would reject that order or just contact me to provide the landline number?
