Hi Pocabella, Ive replied to your athletics thread too:

    Hi Pocabella,

Youll have no problem making the Warriors run, you have plenty of time.

    Check these threads out:

    Warriors Run 09
    Warriors Run 07

For starting from Scratch see Daniels White Plan (page 162).

This guy is known as on of the best elite coaches, but his beginner (White) plan is really excellent.

Read the description before the schedule.

First session is 5 min walk, and 10 by (1 min run, 1 min walk) with 5 min walk to cool down. It gradually works up from there. After 12 weeks you move onto the read plan. You can start tailoring then a bit to suit the race (a few hills etc).

There is a training log on this site. You can use it to log training and people can give you support.

The hardest run will be that first 10 by 1 minute one. Once you get out the door and do that half the battle is won!

How many miles/km is the warriors run?

I think 16k this year. Normally just over 15k but there may be an extra 3/4 k and slightly different route on the mountain this year.

Hi Folks, there is a proposed new route for the uphill section of the warriors run this year. This will mean a different route up and down to cope with expected very large numbers for the 25th anniversary.

There is an oppurtunity to test out the new route (mountain section) this sat 28th March at 10.30 am starting at mountain carpark. Everyone and all standards welcome. We will be breaking the climb into small sections taking a rest at the top of each and regrouping. No-one will be left behind, its just for fun and to check out the route.

We can give everyones feedback to the Warriors committee and they will decide whether or not to go ahead with it.

BTW online registration open now www.warriorsfestival.com (no manual registration this year).

If you cant make it but would like details of the route for training just PM me.

    Hi Folks

We all (10-12 of us) survived the last recce. Another recce of the proposed new Warriors run course taking place this Easter Saturday at 10.30. If youre thinking of running the race in August its worth checking out. All standards welcome, nice easy pace and we'll regroup at the top of each section.

    Maybe see you there

Meet up point was the car-park on the mountain. Went to the last one and it was very good.
