How does one find out the serial number to calculate the code?

Have to take out the radio

  • Registered Users Posts: 256 ✭✭CJKeane

Is there a way to take out the radio without the tool?
I have a 2002 Mondeo which I left the lights on and ran down the battery.
There's no way in hell I'm going to pay the €50 I was quoted from the dealership to retrieve the code!

Just 2 bits of a coat hanger is needed to make this shape: then slot them in each side of the radio.

I did this today. Coat hanger was way too weak, I ended up using two small flat headed jewelers screwdrivers. Insert in each hole, push towards the center of the radio till you hear a click and pull out. I had to use a third screwdriver to get it out. Pop one side out, then the other.

Hey, I'm having the same problem after the car battery disconnected.

    Radio: 5000 RDD eon
Holding 1&6 gets me: MGP DJS 4-06 (seems a bit shorter than other posts?)

    Can anyone help me out?

I am not sure but it looks like you already tried 15times but with wrong codes always so the radio is locked and only dealer can unlock it for u. But I am not sure about this.

Cheers guys, I reckon the code is correct but as Waterford26 has said the wrong code has been entered too often so the unit is permantly locked,I'll have to go to the dealers to see what they can do.Thanks for all the help lads

The radio is not locked at all, leave it on to where it shows the lines on screen and in an hour or two it will start to flash, can enter the code then
