My friend had a pink art exam sheet today. For the poster it was "refuse reuse" or something, and one of the others was "you're a star". Then the embroidery were two excerpts, one from a water poem and one from Hamlet. It's for a cushion or the back of a modern dance leotard thing.

I don't do art, so I'm not sure if that's a help, but I thought I'd throw that out there.

fao anyone doing the poster what ideas have you come up with ???????

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11 Lordvaluemart

    The calligraphy extracts are
    A)
    Storm music
    Let it start slowly
The tentative dripping of rain on your roof
    beats a tense rhythm
    Becoming bolder with every second
Let it rush onwards in frenzied drumbeats
The rain rising to a deafening crescendo
    Then bring the thunder
Let it boom with alto confidence
Its bass rumbling to ratter your cage
To gnaw the bonds that lock you in
Let the storm pounce in startling chords
As the skies shower you with sharps and flats
Then, between crochets, bring in the static crack of lighting
The conductor's gestures cue your scream
And calms the wild tempo to a faint rumble
As the assault subsides to distant bar lines.

    B)
The gnats are dancing in the sun
In vibrant needles of light they run
On the air, and hover in noiseless sound,
    Ecstasy ballet, round and around,
    Soon, for human body found.

    The pin-thin slivers, wingy, white,
    Whirl in restless, passionate flight
    Zooming atoms circling twisting,
    Darting, Jiving.
    Target diving.
In orbit on orbit of dazzle-gold light,
The gnats are limbering up to bite.

    You're actually getting 10 days :)
My imaginitive is on next tuesday and we only got the sheets today giving me 7 days
And my craft work isnt till next week friday and we're not getting the sheets till friday!

And frankly time doesn't really matter anyways cause it's not like divine inspiration is gonna hit you a day before

My exam is next tuesday also, as I said in the second post of the thread. : p
My imag. comp./life drawing isn't until Thursday and we're not getting the paper until Thursday either...

I think time does matter, particularly if you're doing something wherein you can bring in stuff you've already made beforehand (ie puppetry). Generally speaking, the longer you have, the better your idea is going to be, and the better your execution because you will have had more time to think it over and consider other, potentially better ideas.

But sure I'm not counting art for points, I just see this as somewhat unfair, if it is indeed true that one competes with their fellow students for grades.

The official date for the craftwork sheets is the 29th
and the official date for the exam is the 8th!
    That's 10 days not a week! :D

So why have some people not yet received their papers?

So why have some people not yet received their papers?

cause art teachers don't have the sense that I have :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 104 ✭✭shazpunk

Its up to your teachers when they do the exam, they have a two week window, if they were smart anough to put their date later then you would be able to do what the rest of us are doing and getting hold of early papers :)

Most people don't have their papers yet, because most people aren't doing their exam untill the 12th and 13th

Does anyone have the Still Life paper?

And just making sure, that is the craft paper not the design paper that has been posted yeah?

official date for the starting of the exams is the 6th and the ending is the 16th, and the papers are to be handed out 7 days before the exam, most teachers are getting around the 7 day rule by giving out the papers this Friday before the bank holiday weekend.

The 15 min life drawing is
The model in a standing position with his/her
-The weight resting on right leg
    -Left foot slightly forward
-Right hand holding the small carrier bag by handles
-Left arm positioned across the waist
-A small towel or scarf draped over the left arm with the left hand visable
    -Head facing left

    The 30 min is
The model seated upright on a chair with his/her
-Right leg over left, with foot resting on the floor
-Left arm resting across the waistline, hand cupping right elbow
    -Chin cupped in right hand
    -Head tilted to the right

And, personally, all the themes I have posted are from the craftwork paper

What about the Still life/ imaginative composition?
object drawing..... they give two pages of passages.....?

Great, cos I know loads of places do the design paper lol Thank you so much!!! What are you doing?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11 Lordvaluemart

Ha! Sorry, dunno what i was thinking there but sure now if anyone wants them there there now.

The still life have been posted on the 1st page but anyway there are 5 exracts
Passage A is from Cat's eye by Margaret Atwood
Passage B is from Michael Parsons in The Irish Times, Thursday 16th August 2007
Passage C is from The Resturant at the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams
Passage D is from Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow by Peter Hoeg
Passage E is from A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson.

I know, tons of schools do the design but i havent even looked at that paper! Im doing embroidery for the craftwork but im not sure about the imaginative compisition/ Still life.
