    I must have one...

@ Royal can you recommend any decent motherboards that will overclock?

have a good long read here :)

P5E-VM HDMI would be my personal choice.

I don't think you will find reviews on this board squall because well it's so cheap and review sites won't be doing themselves any favours reviewing such boards :)
    Nice build.

Can you order all the components from Hardwareversand and then build it yourself? or do you have to buy it built?

Also, what is the payment method for HWS?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

You can order them and build yourself, and they accept bank transfer.

    I'm back!! :)

Anyone planning on building a PC over the next 2-3 weeks stop the presses! There is going to be an epic battle between the 4850 and the 9800GTX / 9800GTX+ in the 150-220 euro range

  • Registered Users Posts: 595 ✭✭✭toco123

Ati havent brought out anything good since DirectX9. And the 3850 is a waste of money if anyone brings that up.

    72zy3tvsl1vui70o1xn1.jpg

Don't waste this money on anything else!!

ditch the 8800gt and get a 4850 or 4870 , dont waste money on the 8800gt when its beaten by a very high margin by newer card with more features.
    4850 and 4870 reviews
    4850
prices set to drop in the next few weeks also

here we've all been here long enough to relise that the first of wave of reviews are very different to the ones that come out 2 weeks later.

    Examples are:
    Ati 3850
    Ati 3850 CF
    Ati 3870
    Ati 3870 CF
    Ati 3870x2
    9800GTX
    8800GTS 320mb
    8800Ultra in 3 way SLI
Anything to do with SLI bar 9600gt and 8800gt

I am not saying its a bad card.. yet. I could be very wrong. But I ain't going to be the one jumping to conclusions! Its just becoming a broken record.

the only thing wrong there is the 3850 is an awesome crossfire performer , but in a way your right.. people seem very impressed with the new cards from ati

Jumping to conclusions? Info and preliminary benches of the 4850 have been out for weeks.... You stubborn fool!

The 4870 is THE card atm, on paper and in benches, it beats the GTX260 occasionally and costs 250 euro? Yes plz

What about this for a budget card for your budget PC. How would it compare to the other budget cards.

    XFX GeForce 9600GSO 580M, 384MB DDR3, PCI-Express
    Article No. HV1024FADE
ready for dispatch (only 1 article) 85,99 €

Essentially the days of 'budget' gaming where you have to settle for something mediocre on a small budget are over. At 85 euro, the 8800GS/9600GSO are still capable of playing most games at 1680x1050/1440x900 high settings without breaking a sweat. Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, Ut3, etc.

Check out the XXX version here (overclocking to those levels 680/800 I think) is done in a few seconds via rivatuner/atitool or whatever.

I have 8800GS in Sli, costs 160-170 euro, scores almost 14k in 3dmark06, runs COD4 at 1680x1050 max settings 4x AA and averages 60+fps.

Cheapest, most powerful pc, I have ever seen.

Almost same price as one GTX 280 or one Q9650

I'd change the Phenom to a Intel Q6600 as it's also a quad core but is much more powerful for the same price and I personally would move for the HD4850 for the few bucks more it would cost it delivers the most bang for buck in regards to graphics and can be found for aound 140 on offer at the mo. Of course the above recommendation would require a change in motherboard but i'm sure you can find one that cheap enough that fits.

I belive the site is hardwareversand

    Hi All,

I was wondering what would the cheapest rig that you could get that would run an ATI 4870 or an ATI 4850? I was thinkin of a budget of about about €500 - €600.

I would be needing a case and everythin inside. I have a monitor. :)

Any suggestions would be great. :)

    Thanks,

    Dracuswolf

Bit of an update. Full budget build, including hard and optical drive, full PC in all, with legal 64-bit OS. Under 600 delivered, no need for CPU overclocking to play any game at max settings at moderate to high resolutions (17-22").

Next, the budget PC, capable of playing any game at max settings on a 'normal' (17-19") monitor. Again, total build, including 64-bit OS. Just over 420 including delivery. Requires moderate overclocking on CPU.
