Might explain why he got such a fast time when he did the reasonably priced car thing. Although I doubt it was always him considering how young he would've been when "The Stig" phenomenon kicked off.

In a couple of episodes you can clearly see the stig has white skin in between the helmet and collar.

I even watch repeats of it that I've seen before and I normally hate repeats...

I think it's more fun not knowing who the Stig is...I thought it was Damon Hill for ages, until Damon Hill came on to do the Star in the car lap

Hamilton isn't the regular Stig. I'd say whoever plays him most often isn't an F1 driver as he won't have the time.

I do think that Hamilton played the Stig's African cousin when they drove across Botswana(??)

I'd consider that unlikely with the belly that guy had. I imagine he was just a local but thats just my opinion

How in the name of holy marys mother would Lewis Hamilton get time to play the Stig??

The reason 'The Stig' is 'The Stig' is because he's not a well known name and never would be respected as much as the hyped 'Stig'.

Best show on tv though. Did anyone see the top gear special that was a cross with Ground Force? The Top Gear lads treid to do up some fellas (some english rower I think) garden. All set up like a lot of the show but fair funny.

I think there's a good chance that the Hamilton could have been the stig when they raced across London, same kind of build. That whole newspaper bit was to throw us off the trail.

They probably figured they could market a stig that captured intrigue and curiosity and infamy. The stig is good and might interswitch or might be less expensive than lewis hamilton but is ultimately the stig.
I dont know if anybody has seen or even heard of the notorious ghost rider but he would be a pirate version of the stig.

I heard that Nigel Mansell appeared as the Stig a few times.

Heard another rumour that there have been a few different ones because of fatalaties and near fatal accidents during thier trial runs.

Ive been Saying this all last season.
Coupla reasons why i think it was mostly him

- He got on a little tooo well with clarkson when he was interviewed.
- Damn fast lap time on a course that he apparently hadnt driven
- They could use the same stig for the American and african cousins
- If you watch the africa stig he keeps covering up his left shoulder with the toga thing.. Im pretty sure lewis has a tatoo there.
- And a Few more but too lazy to type and my pizza was just delivered

They are all excellant,also loved the polar special and the espace convertable (wrecking the car wash) ,great show,seen them all but id still watch them over and over again. Stig is just THE STIG,nobody plays him!

On last nights episode the 'SinRPC' guest (Justin Lee Collins) said the Stig was Nigel Havers...

Which makes me think the Stig is some plummy-voiced, middle-aged ex-racer. Julian Baily?
