Likewise - execpt with a y rather than an ie - been listening to it for 30+ years now and I detest it - people by me books about it, postcards etc I hate it - it should be banned forever.

In fairness the tune has been around yonks. It predates the annoying Danny Boy lyrics I think. It's called the LondonDerry Air.

Hate it, and all the other drunken howling the drunks try to sing when they are bladdered when they reminisce about Past Ireland with tears in their eyes.

I find it most annoying that we have to stop talking to listen to this assault on our ear drums as it is deemed "disrespectful" not to listen when we are in the boozer. Good time to go check the plumbing in the mens though.

I used to miss the start of the Barry Mc Guigan fights because of his old fella warbling that song.
