what is code CNX where to find it

A request to cancel the service **must** be in writing - if you ring in, the customer service agent will transfer your call to the Cancellations department. If you insist on disconnecting, they will give you an address to write in.

If you ring in and the lines through to Cancellations are busy, the customer service agent will get Cancellations to phone you back, but this can take a few days. Then Cancellations will phone you back and again if you insist on disconnecting, they'll tell you to write the letter.

The one month notice period is effective from the date UPC receives the letter, so absolutely, put your request in writing and the sooner the better. The letter should include your account number and must have the code CNX on it, and should be addressed to:

    Retentions Department
    Chorus/ntl
    Limerick Enterprise Development Park
    Roxboro Road
    Limerick

****They won't accept notice by email as they require the account holder's signature****

Just to let anyone thats interested I got an email comfirmation saying my contract will be cancelled. I sent them the email yesterday requesting it. I've also sent them a letter just to be sure.

I must say fair play to the UPC rep on boards. He was very helpful in getting someone to contact me with a question I had. Its just such a shame its a joke of a service thats supplied by the company for the price being paid.

Thinking of cancelling my NTL/UPC tv after nearly 6 years with them as ive just discovered Sky can be installed in apartments now, this was the only reason i went with ntl.
I think Im entitled to leave the contract without penalty.
Is there a way of dropping the tv & keeping the broadband with them & take my tv with sky?
Im not a big tv viewer really,i work weekday evenings so an odd bit at the weekend is all i want.
Just incase its not possible to drop the tv alone,do sky offer home broadband too?

    What makes you think that?

Yes, but UPC have a surcharge on the broadband price when you drop the tv service (about €7/8 or so i think)

He's been in the contract for 6 years, i believe once the initial 12 month period is over he can cancel at any time.
This is the case with all contracts you take with a service provider iirc. and there shouldn't be any charge for it either.

Yup,thats right.im with them for 6 years this june (so 5.5 years really)
Signed up to a new 12 month contract in july 2009 when i got the dvr in,thats also passed.
Wouldnt be too bothered about paying a tad extra for the BB to drop the tv package.

Can any of you confirm the correct address to cancel a broadband connection with ntl?
I know I have to give 30 days written notice and I've no problem with that - but I've phoned them 3 times now, and each time I'm told someone from their cancellation dept will ring me back with the address....haven't gotten a call back from them!!
    Thanks

Edit; Sorry I've just realised this is a bit of an old thread, but would still appreciate advice on the correct address to send a cancellation letter to, thnaks again.

    The address used to be:
    UPC Ireland
    PO Box 11419
    Blackrock
    Co. Dublin

For your own sake, please please register the letter and keep a copy. They denied getting my letter, continued to provide me with their crap service, and when I wouldn't pay sent me menacing letters threatening to put me on the list of bad debtors. I ended up writing to the Chief Executive, whose contact details a clever friend of mine found out.

I'm moving into a house where sky is installed.

Will have to argue with the landlord to get in upc so am canceling.
I was given an email address the Blackrock address above.

Sent an email and cc'd myself. They can say they didn't get it all they like and send me what they like - It'll just go in the bin.

Incidentally I'll be recording any conversations that I have with them and will tell them that.

Only way to make them change their despicable act is to leave.

I agree about leaving. I eventually got a written apology. I would never have anything to do with them again. Sky are just so efficient by comparison.
