    Would that be the tower over by the woods at Rath Lugh?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,475 ✭✭✭bitemybanger

    It's between Skryne and Lismullin.
    Only took a photo of it on Sunday for here but you beat me to it:(
    Only noticed it recently after the site was cleared.

    That's it. Sorry Bitemybanger :(

    Yep it was completely covered over by trees until they cleared them in the last two weeks. It's the site of St. Columba's church and cemetary according to some historic maps. But I can't find any more history on it online. It was a surprise to me when they uncovered it too!

    Now I've no picture to put up:(
    Popped into Mrs O's for a pint of black and saw that on the way home, I've been down that road many a time and never noticed the ruin.

    + marks the spot... http://maps.osi.ie/publicviewer/#V1,693781,761654,7,9

    It's very close to the entrance to Rath Lugh. It was completely covered by trees until they were cut down.

    Would it be the little house on the left hand side of the Bective Road at Rathnally? This one;

    I was thinking someone from your neck of the woods would get it :-) Stopped on the way back from the Hay Making Festival!

    It's the first time I stopped at it. I always assumed it was a well house, but it doesn't seem to be on the site of a house...
