I just want to know if you would go out with your pjs on?

I mean I have seen grown women in the supermarket in the afternoon with them on them..

    Is it a growing trend?

Would you wear your pjs out? 11 votes

Its just a trend with knackers. I wouldnt even call it a trend, possibly lazyness or filthyness.

For the love of god noooo!!!

Once I sort of did it. I was at a new years party this year, stayed over in my pjs, my mate was driving home the next morning and i threw my silver heels on and long coat over them for the door to door car journey!

Mind you they were 3/4 length black bottoms and I had a normal green hoodie on so didnt look like jammies at all! Can't stand seeing people wearing them out!

It's very very very very very very wrong.

Where did this horrific trend come from?

Only time i did - i had a trackbottoms over them so you couldn't see them!

Like other people have said - I did once, with a long coat and runners, and that was because I was sick and had to drive my friend to the video rental shop (As we had to return some)

Other than that no - looks knackery as hell

I would normally wear them around the house when I get in from work in the evenings but that would be it. The furthest I would go with regards to out would be if I was to put the bins out in the evening - that would be it for me.

Sad to say that the pyjama trend seems to be spreading, in that when I was over in New York in December myself and a few others were in a restaurant in the hotel when i clocked 2 pyjama wearing girls no more that 20 waiting at the host's table, trying to get a seat in the restaurant  Talk about letting the side down

My parents were in a hotel in the west of ireland for a weekend and saw this dublin couple with two kids sitting down for dinner, the wife and kids had their jammies on!:confused::confused:

I've never actually seen a woman doing this.
The guys in college tend to it at exam time, but in fairness they sleep in tracksuit bottoms t-shirts and its the smell that gives them away.

I wore my jammies out once, and I had a long coat on. I was very sick and needed to get my prescription refilled from the chemist. Imo, that, or a severe hangover and the need for salty snacks are the only excuse!

i've actually seen people walking around doing clothes shopping in a retail park, worn with uggs or runner tends to be trend there.
So the excuse of just emergency trip to the shops does not really apply!!

    I've done that too.

Or, i'm just about to get into bed and i realise i've no milk for the morning, so i'll pull a long coat on and go to the shop.

But, other than that no way at all.

No way, never never never. I won't even let visitors see me in my pjs. If I have them on I go up and get changed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 968 ✭✭✭Pigletlover

Never. What I wonder when I see those knackers walking around in the middle of the day in theirs is:

1 Do they get up in the mornings, get washed, and then put on a pyjamas to go shopping.

    or

2 Do they just not bother to wash and go out in the same 'clothes' that they've slept all night in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,145 ✭✭✭SarahSassy

I was at a meeting in a hotel in Ashbourne last week. When we went into the coffee shop in the hotel and there was a sign outside

'smart dress only in the restaurant, no pyjamas allowed'

SWEET JESUS - How embarrassing!!!!! I can only imagine what the foreigners think of us...

Seriously? You find that embarrassing and you're concerned about what "the foreigners" think of us?
I think it's fukking hilarious there was a sign saying that. I'd presume "the foreigners" would also - yet another example of Irish quirkiness. There should be more of it! So no, I wouldn't wear my pyjamas outside, but I'm quite happy that plenty of people do and thus give me a laugh.

lol I do that all the time and I'm not a knacker either.. It's just cos my house is across from the supermarket/garage/shop thing so If I've my pjs on for comfort I'll just put a coat on over them and boots and go shop! There's nothing wrong with it. A girl in my lectures used to wear her pjs in the whole time as well.. Looked a bit strange but there's nothing wrong with it imo

I wore my p's the other night, with a pair of knock off uggs, just around my estate, looking for my daughter...people looked, i didnt care , i love my cow print jammies, and i was only out of the house for 10 mins..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,229 ✭✭✭Susannahmia

Think I have went to the shop next to my apartment once or twice in jammies. I was severely hungover and was craving cheese or a fry.

It's one thing doing a quick dash to the shops with an over coat hiding the PJs but it's an entirely different affair when they are displayed to the world as a fashion statement.

I live in Dublin 8 and it's astounding the number of girls who think this looks good. The other day my partner actually asked one of them why they were wearing PJs on the street in the middle of the day. He was told to "Fv<K off, yeh rude bolli*". Sure it was rude of him but we got one hell of a laugh out of it.

Thats exactly it, I am not talking about popping out to the car with your coat on... We have all done that. Its thinking you look lovely walking the streets in your pj's.... NUTS imho.....

I dont even own any. Which was a bit awkward when I went away recently. Sharing a room with some women Id never met before... Night comes and I suddenly realise...no pjs....ooops. Never even crossed my mind. So wear them as a fashion? Not even under pain of death. :)

In my defence. There are quite a few people here who say they have only gone out in their pj,s once or in an emergency or because they were sick or they put the bins out or,or,or,..................excuses! Admit it . You,ve all done it one time or another and you LIKED it. Theres no shame in it. Pyjamas are only another item of clothing. No one can deny their comfy factor. People who worry about them being a fashion statement are sad .What is a "fashion statement "anyway except some idiots view in a magazine or on tv.
