What about CODIV on veteran? That's as controller smashing tough as any old-skool game I've played.

I've finished CoD4 on veteran and it wasn't that difficult, but then I only play FPS's with a keyboard and mouse ;) What I'm talking about is games that don't give you an option for making it easier, they are just difficult. Mario didn't have an easy option, you just had to learn the finesse of timing your jumps and moving at the right time, you just can't run through the level gung ho.

Yes games now can be difficult but the game designers always put in options to make it easier (like changing difficulty, quick save, frequent save points, endless lives, "quick time" boss fights *shudder*... etc)

It's like in the new PoP, they've made the game with easy routes through the levels and difficult ones. I like to know that when I get to the end of a game I've achieved something that everyone else who played the game had to achieve.

A good example, talk to someone about Ninja Gaiden and they will talk about completing it with pride, talk to them about any other recent game and they will talk about the aesthetics, the crap ending and very little about the actual difficulty of the gameplay.

Only really two difficult (if you'd call em that) levels in CODIV on Vet, the end of that sniper level at the Big Wheel (completed it first time, but it was the only real challenge so far, but after running to the heli i'm told "don't forget the other guy" and I had to run back lift him and only got back to the heli nearly seeing completely red on my screen). Second was the level running down from the farm house, it was just a pain to find the right way to go imho apart from that it was simple enough. :D

Get thee to a games purveyor, stat! "Sands of Time" really is a quality game, to put it mildly & the combat isn't as bad as Yahtzee intimates (leastways not to my mind; boring yes, but not a deal-breaker tbh). In fact I'm tempted to dig out my copy, re-install it & enjoy the fun all over again.

the series is best played back to back. This way you will get all the highpoints of each game in one sitting.

Didn't really find the review that funny. Which tends to be the case when he reviews good games. He should really stick to what he's good at, like the AVGN, and only review bad games.

The pudding and the dick line was funny. Never played the new Prince of Persia games either.

I think i bought the two thrones, even bought a controller for it. I gave up after two hours, got a pain in me hole jumping around like an eejit.

really liked the sands of time (would have preferred it if there was no combat, just exploration)

I just bought a gamecube in order to play sands of time again.

Hated jumping about? I find that amusing, coming from someone called "Bambi" ;)

I always regretted not giving Sands of Time more time. Theres plenty of cheap copies floating around though so may pick up one up soon. Warrior Within never appealed to me though: the angsty element just looks infuriating.

But the most important thing to take out of this: Yahtzee lists Spiderman 2 as one of his top 5 games! Controversial, but admirable - it is an underrated game.

Spider-man 2 got quickly tiresome though... stupid kids and their balloons..

Loved the boss battle with Mysterio though.

Is it just me or does this google droid look suspiciously like the ZP imp-guy?

    Today its Soul Calibur IV...

... and I LOVED IT. Very very funny this week.... Loved the technical difficulties. :)

I have to agree with him. Haven't understood beat-em-ups since MK and Street Fighter.
Maybe ff7 stupidly raised my expectations of all games.

A beat-em-up feels like one aspect of a game packaged and sold for full price to me as well.

Excellent review. I've stopped letting him put me off buying games tho.

heh, I've got SC4 sitting in a bag waiting for me to move so I can play it :(

He hates beat em ups tho. I wouldn't worry since you obviously LIKE beat em ups.

Thought it was fantastic far better than last weeks.

I enjoy when he actully finds a game appauling enough to be satirical about it

Anyone else see the new virgin media ad on tv? It is definately made with Yahtzee's style of presesntation in mind, my brother thought I was watchin one of his reviews when he heard it. The accent and pronounciation are very similar. I'm looking for the ad online but I haven't found it yet.
