LL Meet ups!

Hi,
Im new to boards but could do with somewhere to vent!
Ive got friends from lots of different places like home and school and college and ive always kind of kept them apart (not intentionally it always just worked out that way!) but recently i introduced a friend from home to one from college and they've fallen in love and become inseperable and even more recently two more of my mates got together and a third has fallen for someone i got chatting to one night and they are going out! Dont get me wrong im really happy for all of them but im rapidly running out of friends to go out on the tear with! Im working now and like all my colleagues but am a bit stumped as to how to make new friends! any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Are you in Dublin OP? I've been talking to a few girls in the same situation recently....I've moved to Dublin recently and while I have a few girl friends here, sometimes they're not always around (like this weekend when I could really have done with them!)....and me being newly single wouldn't mind getting out there and meeting new people.

I'd suggest the Lounge Beers on the 18th too, I'm going along as I'm sure are many other girls like you and me. Not saying we'll find best friends there but who knows, you might find someone or a few girls that you have a laugh with at least.

Aww thank you for that message Pickled Onion, meant a lot. Even if you can't meet up on the 18th I'd be happy to meet you any time. Dublin is a lonely place when you don't know that many people. I've recently met some brilliant girls in the same boat so you're never alone.

We should start up a social thing maybe? Get a few girls out that are in the same situation and just want to meet new people and maybe just go for a few drinks....I need something to motivate me and meet new people right now and it might be fun?

I've lurked a long time and decided to sign up and join in. I'm trying to broaden my social circle too. I'm from Dublin, but find that I don't see as much of my friends as I used to, we seem to just have different interests these days.
So new year, I've decided to put meself out there and make an effort!:)

i havent been to one of these drinks yet & dont really know a lot of boardy people, so save a seat for me on the nite girlies
im in the same boat too, even though im from dub a lot of my friends have abandoned me, by getting married or moving away. nobody ever seems free for girlie drinks anymore.
so hopefully i'll meet u likeminded ladies on the 18th.

Never posted here before but read the original post and I'm pretty much in the same boat. I've found since I've left college that most of my friends have moved away for work and the aul social life has suffered a little! I'd love to go for drinkies on the 18th but unfortunately I'm in Cork

See laydees....once one person made the leap, the rest have followed. There's loads of girls in the same situation as we are....whoever can't make the 18th I'd totally be up for meeting up next weekend if anyone wants to. I'd rather be out there and meeting "internet weirdos" (joking obviously!!) than being sat inside feeling sorry for myself.

I'll see ye on the 18th and if anyone wants to meet up before then I'll see ye then....seriously I'm up for anything at this stage (well not everything!!!) and we're all in the same boat.

i think even meeting for coffee some evenings would be good fun, starbucks on dame street is open till 10 and would be nice to have someone to go for chats with in the evening rather than sitting watching the box.

Would you mind another straggler? I was away for a long time and came back a while ago. Alot of me mates are now married with kids or in relationships so not really up for a good session. It would really give the new year a boost to have some new mates to go out and about with

I really like the idea of meeting for coffee too! I can't always get out for the night, but a couple of hours mid week would be ideal some time.
Hope to get to one of the drink events too tho in the near future.
Another suggestion, if people work around town, would be meeting for lunch some day maybe?

Well our dumpers did us a favour really. I've met one briliant friend already and hope to meet more and looking forward to my new happy life with loads to do and people to meet. As Sarah said in another thread 'half measures aren't good enough' and she's right.

So feck men for now and feck sitting in, lets all get out there and live.
