Things that seem great when drunk

Apart from fast food, ugly people or sh!tty nightclubs, what else seem like a great idea when drunk but when examined in the cold light of day proves to be, well. sh!ite frankly.

I find any writing (be it creative or songs or whatever) turns out to be mostly terrible but you don't seem to know this at the time.

Also, rash desicions like telling people what you really think of them.

Feel free to add your own experiences to this!

After all - we've all all done retarded things while flutered.

Random world record breaking plate spinning attempts have on two occasions proved bad ideas to me while drunk.

    Random nite-links

    Posting on boards

    Random purchases

    Calling into work

    sobering up

Worst thing I remember doing was, slipping behind the bar in a dodgy establishment and trying to put a refund on my credit card without getting caught. Yes it was reckless and stupid, but it made sense at the time.

Smashing beer bottles. Also pming the admins is probably not the best idea in the world but the one time I did it, it worked out well. :)

"writing" graffiti on concrete walls, using streams of my own pi$$ ... I invariably try for too many letters, or mis-spell something critical. :(

also ... cooking, never a good idea when you're buckled, can cause fires.

finally, thinking you have supernatural powers and attempting to scale walls, buildings, quarries, double-decker buses on your push-bike, it will all end in tears.

juggling eggs ... ftl when scuttered.

sending text messages on your mates phones, to randomers or exes ... lost a pal over that one. Kev, if you read this, I am sorry :(

thinking you are a pleasant, witty, sweet natured induhvidual, suitably refreshed or merely "merry", when in fact you are really a steaming, obnoxious, foul mouthed loud farting drunken sweaty oaf, and people around you are in fact laughing AT you :(

Ha, I remember calling some girl a few years ago at a christmas party, my boss grabbed the phone and bo!!ocked her for calling me at my work party. Priceless!!

Oh yes; speaking your mind ... rarely wise when sober, always a bad idea when you are stinking.

Jeebus, this thread is making me so morose, thinking about all the dumb-ass things I have done with drink on me. What's worse is the knowledge, deep down, that the drink is no excuse ... I did those things because I have it in me to do those things.

Think I'll have a nice cup of tea now.

Oh god woke up this morning thinkin wtf did I do that for.

Went out last night cause I finished my exams yesterday, got **** faced, made a move on one of my friends who is a girl....she was my neighbour last year. Obviously it wasn't the best idea, although I'm not sure exactly what I did, couldn't even remember when i got home. Anyway I got home and sent her the whole i'm sorry txt...but I sent it to her other no. so she wont get it til she uses that phone again.

    Walking completely unrealistic distances home.

That one's funny, I once ran 2 miles home locked and was grand. What's wrong with that, you say? The fact that (at the time) I could barely run 100 yards without getting a stitch normally.

I have to mention fast food. Garlic and cheese chips from a chipper. Ugh... nothing like garlic breath in the morning

One nightclub I went to had an ATM, I was already steamed and I *think* I had brought €60 in already. Apparently I thought it was a good idea to take out €100 more and piss it up a wall, didn't notice the €100 until a week later when my statement came in. Nightclubs with ATMs are more evil than Hitler and Stalin put together.

This happens to me also. I used to run four miles to get home when pissed. I can barely walk to the bathroom sober.

I do the walking huge distances home too. Although I can't say that I've done the running part.

Sitting on stairs at house partys.

I find the running drunk thing is more a case of gained momentum.

Usually if I'm doing a trip home, I will walk a bit faster, stumble and try to compensate my stumble with an extra step, and then another, until I'm running full sprint with a fear of what will happen. You know the fear, when you run down a hill and you don't quite know how to stop.

    Yeah...

Definitely wasn't me. I was in bed at 11.30. Sober.
Actually. Never mind that. There's not a hope of me running in the first place.

    It has to be texting.

It's always a stupid thing to do ..... but never seems like that at the time.

There should be a brethalyser fitted as standard to all mobiles.

    Internet has to be worse.

Instant and total access to almost everyone you know in every possible medium while pissed is not a good idea.

christmas night out last night, told my boss when drunk that i was drinking all day yesterday in work, bad idea i know he is going to hold it against me from now on:(

other bad ideas drinking shots of half mickey finns and sambuca all night knowing i had to get up today and go into work, which will be really busy BAAAAAAAAHHH HUMBUG!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,759 ✭✭✭✭dlofnep

Your phone should ask you "Are you drunk?" when trying to send a text message, and if you say you are - it says "Piss off to bed and try again tomorrow".

I've texted all the wrong people about the wrong things while under the influence! This should also be applicable to MSN, IRC and whatever other medium you can use to really tell people what you think.

I've done them all at one stage or another. Texting is probably the worst though. I was half seeing a girl a few years ago, woke up after a very late night and checked my messages.
I had sent her "I am not a nice person, you shouldnt get involved with me". WTF was that about???? And I'm always texting ex's.

Right now I'm in bed and have a huge (really its very very big!) lump on my head/forehead. No idea how I got it. Not a clue. Sore ass as well (as in a bruise, not internal activities). Again, no idea.

Should I give up drinking??? Yes, yes I should.

Yeah, I used to get that too - I'd wake up after a night out with a dead arm/leg, bruised ribs, scratches on the arm, dirty shirt - like I've walked through a field, or bruised fists

Buying all my friends ridiculousy expensive drinks and wondering where all my money went the next morning.

Making an ass of myself on the dancefloor.

Whipping out the lad whenever im with some girl who i didnt previously know.

Spending copius amounts of money in the chipper.

Never do the texting thing though thank god, but i do do quite alot of stupid things:)

    Texting anyone....about anything....especially if there's a "history" there.
I absolutey HATE looking in my "sent" folder if I've been out the night before. Nothing ever makes sense :(

Hopping into an opened van/tour bus, without permission, belonging to a band you've just been to see, coz you're waiting for a taxi and it's freezing.

    Sending web texts is worse.
You don't remember until that person confronts you. Then it all comes flooding back.
