We dumped SKY too. I really resented giving them my money anyway, but the last straw was when they showed graphic trailers for murder programmes during the ads for innocuous programmes which my 10 year old was watching - and a) it was almost impossible to find somebody to contact to speak to about it and b) they didn't care when I did get to talk to somebody.

They said things like: It was after the 9.00 watershed. My argument: 1) We were watching the +1 station and it was after 9.00, but the programme was originally shown at 8.00, 2) The watershed means that parents have to judge whether a programme is suitable, and the programme we were watching WAS suitable, but I as the parent had no chance to make a judgement on those ads, and 3) I didn't want to see these images either even though I'm an adult.

BTW we were watching the documentary channel and these programmes were going to be on the crime channel.

Another argument they came back with was that these trailers (and indeed the programmes) were just reconstructions, not the real thing. Like, Duh! I didn't exactly think they were snuff movies! But just as everything in the cinema is fiction doesn't mean we don't have age ratings.

Anyway, they wouldn't/couldn't help me, I cancelled and they suddenly started courting me again with offers to rejoin. But of course these offers have no contact e-mail on them so you can't get back to say why you won't be rejoining. And they have no phone numbers either except for the sign-up one.

So they'll never know, and yes, I know they probably won't care. But I'm definitely voting with my feet on that.

DID electrical.Went in to buy a washing machine and the bloke sort of amled up and stood there staring at me.
I said hi and he sort of inclined his head a little.Told him i wanted to buy a washing machine and he pointed over in the general direction of where they are.
I asked him a couple of questions about the model i wanted and he alternated between tutting, rolling his eyes and smirking.I eventually got tired of being nice and told him to piss off, being the fat bastard that he was.
Thats the third bad experience i've had in that place.I also didnt buy a VCR and a microwave. They dont want to sell you anything unless its 42" plasma tv's and the shops are stocking less and less other products to make room for them.
Oh yeah, and in spit of what they tell you, power city are much cheaper and without all the attitude.

It was after the watershed, just because it's +1 doesn't mean the ad's are the same. Quit whining and find another activity for your kids after 9.

Made a fairly consious decision a couple of years back that I was fed up with being ass-raped by the relentless and unjustified M50 Toll Bridge increases.

Since then I'll take an alternative route unless it's an absolute emergency. With the state of the M50 now, it's not like it's even a time-saver anyway.

I'll use the M50 alright, just not the N3-N4 bit.

    That's terrible.

Your argument, i mean. It's really awful.

The only reason i wouldn't buy something from company X is because company Y is offering it cheaper, that's it.
And PC world are fine for what they are. A big shop staffed by people who, surprisingly, aren't all experts on PC's. They are sales staff, they just need to know the bare minimum. Why you'd expect people who work on commission to give you impartial advice i have no idea.

Of course there are rumours about that whole case but I couldn't repeat them on Boards.ie - don't want to get the site in trouble.

    Personally I won't go to those ****e nightclubs Lilly's, Annabelle's, Lizzy's, Trixibelle's - all those sorts.

I don't wear Nike (although I probably do wear runners that Nike own so it's a futile gesture really).

I don't eat Nestle products but I do drink Coca-Cola products. (Sorry Scroobius Pip!)

I don't have a social networking profile and I never will. That's not a moral thing - I just fuppin' hate them!

Irish Ferries: Total disregard for Irish State and Workers. Other than that company name contains the word 'Irish', theres nothing irish about them whatsoever

Aer Lingus: Going the same way as Irish Ferries. Taking business outisde the jurisdiction (e.g. Belfast) and doing their best to completely destroy the Shannon region.

Sky & Chorus NTL: With Freeview/Free to Air, who needs them. Instead of getting 80 channels of sh1te with the FreeSat they'll give you 400 channels of sh1te and you pay €60 for the priviledge. No thanks.

I won't buy a suzuki vechile of any sort - had 4 bikes by them, first one died (piston through the head!), 2nd one robbed (not their fault I know just bad luck), third one clutch & gears went on it, 4th one was fine and I sold it - had a kawasaki since then & zero problems. Sis had a suzuki car as a starter and it was SH1TE.

i was in the flowing tide pub a few years ago with a friend and ordered a pint for myself and a coke for my mate. the coke was as flat as a pancake and the barman refused point blank to change it, needless to say i never went back and 'accidentally' knocked the coke off the bar on the way out. the pub is now closed down so im delighted

    There's a butcher in santry,beside the Remax and Sarah's.
Used to go in there all the time as i worked nearby untill it becaame very clear he was overcharging like you wouldnt believe.
A friend of mine went to get a fiver's worth of sirloin for me and came back with about 2 quid's worth.
He gave me a piece of rotten rib steak another time and told me in was sirloin and took back 7 quid's worth of meat when i was short 30p...in spite of the fact i worked 5 minutes away and would've paid him.
We used to watch him bullshiiting the old dears too "ah there's a bargain ofr ya..call it 25 quid!" and he'd put a 15 quid roast and a pound of sausages in a bag.

How did your child see through the layers of bubble rap engulfing his delicate little body?

Past watershed... really, you have no argument, if i had of answered your call at sky i would have laughed in your face.

My own little issue was with a bar in Canada, really was quite a nice bar with good food and over 100 beers to choose from. First off, it was bad enough that it was closed on Sundays but when myself and a work colleague chose to get lunch there we sat down and after 10 minutes we had received no service, i got up and asked the barman if we could get some service, sat down, 5 minutes later still nothing. I wanted to go and ''chat'' with the barman again but my friend just said leave it, went up the road to an Irish bar and was served immediately:)

I'm fairly sure that is not their job. I'd be stroppy too if i kept getting hapless members of the public strolling over to ask if this printer will work with their gamestation two when that's not what i'm getting hired to do.

Besides, i'd only go in there if i knew what i was looking for. If you're asking people in PC world what to buy, you're already doing it wrong.
They sell you stuff, don't expect them to actually know jack**** about what they are selling, you wouldn't ask somone working in pennys for fashion advice, would you?

(and if you would, you shouldn't. I used to work there and i can't tell when colours clash)
