Give Smyths a call. Picked up a Black one there at weekend. Had piles of them behind the counter.

    Smiley,
I'm in the same boat but hope to have one this week.

If your determined to get one then contact Smyths/Gamestop every 2/3 days and check whether they have them in.

They are available online(ebay) but works out more expensive and you loose out on taking bundle offers.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 125 ✭✭dollydrops

    Are they hard to get?
My bf is suppose to be getting me one for xmas and he is a bit of a late shopper. Do you reckon they will be all gone?

Argus had them recently. Have some good bonus pack offers too (ds lite, nintendogs carry case + pets corner game for 189.00)

    davmigil,When was this?
I tried 1/2 the Argos in the country last Thursday/Friday and there were none to be found.
Yes, the pink ones are harder to get. No guarantee of getting one through a brick and mortar shop at this stage....but my fingers are crossed that you do.

Week and a half ago, so maybe stocks depleted since. Went to the Liffey Valley store, had none but staff were able to tell me which stores had stocks and reserved it for me.

I remember last year I had to run around to find a Pink Nintendo for a Chistmas pressie.. eventually I reserverd and bought one in LiffeyValley Argos.
I think Pink ones have a great demand every where...

Am just back from Liffey valley, Argos there were out of stock as were Virgin who didnt know when theyw ere getting them back in and game only had black ones but not a massive selection of games for the bundles.

BUT both Virgin and Argos in Blanch had them (saw someone getting a pink in Virgin) , was gonna leave it to a bit closer to Christmas but heard they are starting to get a bit scarce.

have just rung Virgin in blanchardstown; they're sold out now. They're getting some more consoles in before the weekend but can't tell if there'll be pink ones in the shipment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 746 ✭✭✭absolutegroove

    Yo Lpfsox,

Was in Harvey Normans in Blanch today - they seem to have DS consoles for sale in there.

    Dont have there number though.

Smyths in town have a few pink ones left, €180 plus any game.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 100 ✭✭JuJuYNWA

I got a pink one in New York last week with three games and three extra stylus for 108 euros!!!

Only raging i didnt wait until later to get my dollars and it wouldve been cheaper:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 550 ✭✭✭mcauley

Given that this is the bargain thread, does anybody know where I'll get a DS cheap? I want one for myself but not paying more than 120 for one.

Not opposed to a second hand one. Have tried Adverts, Buy and Sell and Gumtree, also eBay but I'm a bit wary of the foreign models......

    any advice??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,170 ✭✭✭Grawns

Back in stock in Argos ( Ilac centre anyway). Not a bargain at €149.99 and not in pink.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,470 ✭✭✭DonJose

I've had no luck finding a pink DS lite in Ireland so I ended up ordering one from amazon.com, its a special edition Nintendo DS Lite Metallic Rose with a free game Nintendogs Best Friends. Cost me $149.99 which is roughly €100. If I could find the same here I'd pay €180 for it. I'm having it shipped to my PO Box in the states, then shipped to Ireland. Even with customs and shipping it will be a lot cheaper than buying here, thats if I could find one here.

Nintendo DS Lite Metallic Rose with Nintendogs Best Friends (NDS Pink Bundle)

My friend bought one last week but didnt tell her husband. He came home with one this week. Now she has two - unopened and with receipts. She would probably see one at face value. PM me. I dont want to annoy the mods by touting something for sale.

    Tallaght Dublin area.

While this is not the place to discuss this I'd like to point out that I'd have no qualms about passing the picket line. Argos are following the terms of the National Wage Agreement which has been ratified by both the LRC and the Labour Court. The workers union, Mandate, withdrew the from social partnership last year. I'm happy to see Argo flying in workers in order to keep shops open so its customers can go about their business in the run up to Christmas. Well done Argos.

As its not the place to talk about here, All I will say on the matter, look how much argos is worth as a company and then ask yourself is it right that they should only pay their workers the minumn wage.

    I'll leave it at that.

There is absolutely no excuse for passing a picket,...NONE,.. it's a cowardly shameful act, when your child unwraps their Argus bought DS,Wii or Xbox on Christmas morning just remember the level you sunk to in order to get it.

Working in Argos is a non-skilled job, Argos currently pay above minimum wage, Argos are following the terms of the National Wage Agreement which has been ratified by both the LRC and the Labour Court. I hate unions, they threatened us with power cuts last month, they shut the transport system in parts of Dublin cos bus drivers weren't getting paid to travel to work, they threated to stop flights flying out of Dublin. Enough is enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,467 ✭✭✭Lucifer

no lensman....i won't feel like that at all...
thanks for trying to guilt trip me though...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,470 ✭✭✭DonJose

Lucifer, I really hope you went and bought the Nintendo, not being sarcastic in anyway. Those strikers/union were taking advantage of the Christmas shopping season and customers shouldn't have to feel guilty about going about their everyday business. The shopping season is stressful enough without having to deal with this crap.

lensman, the next time you fill up your car ask the person behind the counter how much they earn, it'll be a lot less than an Argos employee!!!

ME,ME,ME,.........shameless one & all, this is my last post on topic, I have come across your distasteful ilk before & to be very honest you make my stomach turn.

Whats cowardly about it? Having to brave being beaten with placards and enduring the wrath of the crowd just to go about your daily business? The only cowards here are the trade unions and their members holding the public to ransom because they're afraid to settle their dispute with the relevant channels.

I for one didnt fancy enduring a few thumps as I approached the shop (as I saw another chap in front of me getting) so I veered away last second. Does anyone know if Argos are open on Sundays?

Back on topic....if you knew someone going to US - Circuit City (big electronics chain) have then for US130 in their shops. Thats about EUR90 each. If u knew someone going over, well worth it. I bought one earlier in 2007, works prefect here via USB charger.

And you could buy a mains charger for €10 in game

You can get them for 160USD on ebay. The guy i bought from had 12000 feedback and he marked the item as a gift with a 60 USD value to get in under the customs radar. It arrived in 5 days with tracking.

Also If you are electronics savvy you can rig a usb charger by splicing a regular usb cable with the US 120 V charger that comes with the DS lite. Takes about 10 minutes. Pm me for details.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,569 ✭✭✭maxheadroom

Well, the strike wasn't on in Argos today, and likely won't tomorrow. I have a reservation number for a black one in blanchardstown valid until the end of tomorrow (Monday 3rd) - if anyone needs it, PM me.

Thats probably due to the fact that it was only a 1 day strike.

My apologies, i just checked on that seller and he has increased his prices by $10 dollars and shipping by $5!!!! So the total would now be $175. Thats about 119 Euro which is on the verge of not worth it imo. Anyway here is the link.

I also got a couple of pms about making a usb charger from the US power adapter.
    Instructions are here.
