IAA Chairman has resigned, if you dont read the IAA forums. Pretty shocking news and hopefully we can get some explanation as to what caused this to occur so close to the AGM.

The reason I resigned is as follows.
In November while doing some routine checks on our membership database, I noticed some anomalies.
An independent audit was commissioned and carried out and it was found that a small number of memberships were awarded free of charge without any committee involvement. One of these awards in particular, could lead to allegations of commercial bias within the iaa.

I found myself in a position of having to stand over the activities of the iaa for 2010 as chairperson, and now knowing about these problems, i cannot stand over the activities of the current committee. I am not prepared to waive my principles and ignore the issue, so I feel my only option is to resign my chairmanship.
I would like to stress that this issue was not as a result of an external hack or a breach of the system, but rather, due to the actions of a committee member acting beyond his powers and against the constitution

    From the IAA website

Just when I thought scandal in airsoft was dead it all kicks off out of nowhere, something seriously dodgy going on with one of the committee by the sounds of things

I normally disagree with pre-emptive modding but I have to throw this one in before someone says something that gets boards sued:

With regard to the current issue in the IAA which led to the resignation of the chairman:

    1. No speculation, naming names, or otherwise singling out identifiable individuals or groups or their responsibility in the matter will be permitted here.

    2. Even if an official response is posted by the IAA, naming / discussing individuals will not be tolerated.

Agreed for sure and I think everyone can appreciate that.

But I guess perhaps at somepoint, this being a airsoft discussion board, that when some details and facts come to light, the topic of someone voted into power on the committee abusing their powers might be addressed, and hopefully it can be, aslong as people adhere to the rules and leave names out but discuss the issue itself.

And I have to say its absolutely disgraceful, and how anyone can get a power trip from a pretty small organisation for a small sport is downright outragous.

Must just be an irish thing.

Would love if Take Aim mag did a rip off of like irish enwspaper and started posting mad scandel things haha

If brown envelopes are involved I'm quitting airsoft, I'll have a good laugh first, then a rage, then I'll leave

People involved will hopefully get barred from affiliated sites to send a message that this sort of ****e isnt tolerated

I have to agree with you there Doc, i thought that when i first read the post. I don't understand how you can power trip in a small community based organisation like airsoft, never mind the IAA itself
    strange really.

Lads, when some hard facts come to light then by all means feel free to discuss them. Until that time, please refrain from speculating over what happened.

At this point, for all we know, aliens could have landed and meddled with some paperwork. :)

If you feel you need to make allegations then this isn't the place to do so.

I hate when politics and crap like that take over, i see it in loads of organisations even smaller than the IAA. Power plays are human nature unfortunately, its a pity but Steve and Doc are right.
The IAA will have to sort this out themselves, rumors will just damage the community here. It might or might not be innocent and there could have been personal reasons you just don't know unless you were involved and if you were you owe it to keep quiet and not stir the crap. For all our popularity on boards and our growing popularity in Ireland its still a fragile sport and last thing we want is for things to boil over. Oh if there was any underhand play shame on them.

I agree with your sentiment and the good nature, but to be fair I dont think its something simply for the IAA committee to deal with internally.

**** like this should very much be dealt with in the open, we voted those people into power and their actions are very much answerable to us.

Pity cause its the only thing going to be on the agenda now for the AGM .......

And sure at the day its a small sport and small organisation, its not like NAMA are going to come powering in and do an audit,

Be more damaging if its swept under the carpet and I for one would very much be weary of that sort of playacting and would very much destroy all the hard work thats been done and the efforts into creating transperancy

Sorry Steve just read your post.

I cant get onto the IAA site through work so I'm venting here

As with every story - I'm sure there are two sides.
Surely it would be better to get the facts before any more is said.
