    Question..

Why are we allowed sing praises about sites and retailers all day long

But when we have a grievance or an issue and bring it up, we are clamped by mods to deal with it off topic, or accused of "slander" ( people need to learn its meaning) or just assaulted.

Not having a pop at anyone in particular its just kinda double standards and a bit cotton wool for my liking.

If its avoid argueing or spreading a abd name, I thought that was the point of having the threads their in the first place and having a discussion forum thats based around airsoft discussion.

Having a quick gander on other forums you can see the posters are allowed to post their dislikes about retailing establishments.

**** look at my airsoft retailer thread posts about ebaybanned etc and they were pretty damning yet I was left alone.

Is it a case we can't say anything bad about irish retailers/sites?
Are we allowed but they should be directed to the thread outlined " experiences"

Just wanting to know cause it does get on my tits.

If its a case we cant say anything bad, I'd push for having only thread owners be able to post in their retailer threads, and move all positive comments to PM and all requests to PM, after all when I just want to see who an announcement its a pain in the tits siving through all the crap.

Obviously I dont want the above paragraph, but I think you get my point...

That recent thread about the **** bbs and where they came from, the retailer wasnt being announced as I assume it was fear from the poster of being banned or getting into trouble.

If a retailer is pushing ****e BB's I wanna know about it and if I come on to inform people then I should be allowed, its good information being served to others.

Instead that thread turned into a depressing " o who is it i wonder" absolute wankfest , that had as much drama and suspense as an episode of Postman Pat...

Yeah i still have no idea who the retailer was, that said i don't think i'll be in cork looking for BBs anytime soon, but I suppose some other poor sap could very easily.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,758 ✭✭✭Stercus Accidit

I dunno, the whole potential to ruin someone's livelihood?

That poster made no indication that they had contacted the retailer they bought the bb's from in the OP, not even giving them a chance to change their stock. They came straight here and as soon as they posted, we have the assumption they were "pushing ****e bb's" straight away.

I don't know the full story, do you? Not havin' a dig here, but ye cant jump to conclusions.

Yeah i agree with ya sam, it should always follow your attempts to rectify the problem with the retailer first. sure the same thing is done with other shops that sell airsoft but aren;t strictly airsoft shops, Ive no idea how many times ive seen gaget shops plastered as rip off merchants who are selling cheapo quality shoite.

Maybe were just too small of a community to be airing these issues in public, yet if the retailer hasnt bothered to sort the issue when brought up with them then they probably deserve it really huh.

I bailed on that thread, was the retailer made aware though? I'm all for mentioning poor service and proper descriptions of an issue, thats what the retailer experiences thread is there for. People have a tendency to jump to an assumption, and then make a big claim, and that spreads.

We know the BB brand anyway, hopefully someone who knows the shop will let them know. If they change their ways, all is well, if not, I'd be more than happy to know and warn others.

I'm not jumping to any conclusions, but not being able to pass on negetive feedback is highly ..weird....

If I buy a new pc part and its ****, I'll mosey over the the pc building and modding forum, post and say its ****...cause its a forum based around computers and all that comes with it.

Think people get too self defensive here : /

If I buy something airsoft related and its muck, I'd like the comfort in knowing I can tell people its muck, without retailers firing acusations, mods going on crusades and posters defending their beloved retailing lord blindly.

Not so much fuss when everyones touching tips over how good we are :)

It kinda came up cause a friend rang me this morning asking for some advice on where to go to play, told him to check boards, he rang abck an hour later saying " is it just me, or are all the sites amazing?"

And i get his point, from reading it you would think that all the sites are as good as each other, and anyone that posts a negetive comment was a troll, far from the truth ...

Should also be noted that just because you buy a gun, and it turns out its **** performing, but its working, doesnt entitle you to a refund or anything and a retailer doesnt have to exactly agree to your demand of an exchange ( and ive heard enough stories of customers being told to get the hump)

If I buy a piece of **** I'd like to able to let others know to steer clear. Sure isnt that how we avoided us all walking around with classic armies shredding the bollox of ourselves every weekend? Didnt the genuine reviews of raptor BB's and other poor brands of BB's avoid so many of heart ache?

We know the BB brand anyway, hopefully someone who knows the shop will let them know. If they change their ways, all is well, if not, I'd be more than happy to know and warn others.

And herein lies the crux of the matter as to why some threads are left alone, others are not, and why some posts are seen to be clamped down upon whislt others are not.

Speaking from a moderation * perspective; if you put facts across in a clear and unambigious manner devoid of hyperbole or coming across as a complete walting loon, then odds are you'll be left alone. By contrast, someone jumping up and down claiming x product is crap for no other reason than well ... bad luck (to use an example), and that the seller molests sheep is guaruanteed to earn you a one way trip to moderation-ville.

This is why one fo the very important ground rules I laid down in the adverts feedback was posting fact and nothing more when there is a problem. Personal opinions or what you think should happen on a certain day of the month in a blue moon amounted to being irrelevant. If you post the facts and nothign but the facts, there is very little legal comeback against either you or boards.ie
