and would like your opinion on.

I have not been around boards for years and years, well a year and a bit, and in my time here i have noticed one thing. Why is it that most of the girls who start to post on boardshave to makes them selves seem like raging under sexed overly hormonal sluts.

I have been guilty of acting flirtatious in my first little while on boards but then i coped onto myself and slapped myself upside the head. And began posting as myself.

I guess what im trying to say is why do the majority of girls on boards think they need to act like twats to get noticed?

And what do you guys really think of girls who post in such a way.?

Don't really think much of them to be honest. They're fine for virtual one night stands or a cyber quickie but theres no way Pighead would have a virtually settle down with any of the "Look at my titties" brigade. Maybe Pigheads just too much of a traditionalist.

Airheads. Attention seeking airheads with nothing even remotely intelligent to say.

Yeah, but you get that in real life too. Little pain in the hole ugg boot brigade that have suddenly realised that their femininity will get them on side with the boys.
Ah well. I suppose they are teenagers and that's what they do.
Back in my day, we were well behaved and weren't allowed to talk about boys...

    Kids these days, eh :)

Yeah but to be honest the blokes on here do it too completely so much so you would swear they are all virgins on heat ...or maybe they are.:D

Its a forum , it's a bit of fun ...Not much thought has to given to post here except follow the rules and chip in your two cents.
By all means seemingly being of a lower IQ because you don't post about subjects iof substance does not an idiot make in most cases.

People flirt in real life, people flirt on boards, as long as it doesn't go too far (and posters will usually be told to get a room by others) it's just a bit of fun. I would be more upset by ignorant/stupid/trolling posting, yes you should think before you post, some do, some don't, and while your post OP was aimed at women, I think it applies equally to both sexes !

For me its the equivalant of nails scrapeing down a blackboard.

But saying that, I think its just an age thing. I was pretty daft when I was at that age.

Theres nothing wrong with being a bit flirty, most people have that side to their personality in real life. But I have to say I cringe when I see girls who base their whole identity (online or otherwise) on something like... I dunno, having boobs say. Or acting "available". Its kinda needy, especially online, and imo comes from girls who value attention from men more than anything else.

We all have the same body parts and we are all capable of doing the same things wth them. Feeling the need to advertise that is a tad sad, and as Beruthial (I think twas her) said, indicative of having nothing else to say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,756 ✭✭✭Jules

My post was not directed at girls alone, wanted to see what both sides think of the situation, and as for the age thing its not just teenagers. I know women of all ages to act like complete twats on boards. And its not the harmless flirting that is annoying its the, yes i must post something that is sexually oriented every time or else the boys wont like me!!!!

Personally i find it insulting and just makes them out to be desperate.

I think Peared put it best :)

I just find it annoying, in real life as well as the internet.

I mostly find girls who fill their sentences with innuendos and flirting get responses.... but not the kind they're seeking. They want attention, and get it, but the type they get doesn't solve the problem that causes them to seek it, so it goes on....and on... and on. And eventually, they wonder why they've no female friends left, really.

I could post my long and rambling psychological report on this, but you'd all fall asleep with your faces against the monitor :)

    Maybe not:)

This drives me mad too... I have one friend who was really bad, and I just thought it was so undignified, but then I'm really reserved with guys normally.

The only person who gets any innuendo from me is my OH.

There are a few girls/women here on boards who are sound out. They dont act like slags, or try to hump everything with a cock. unlike certain members of this place. But the sound ones are few and far between, im happy to say i am friends with a few of the sounds ones in real life. And even socialise with them. But i have seen the "other" type of woman/girls on here out and about and i just avoid them.

I dunno what it is with them. 99% of them i wouldnt get up on them to get over a wall. So they arnt even attractive, but they act like they are stunning. What giefs with that loike ?

Granted, and this is the one and only time you will ever see me type this.... But CSG has a point, there are blokes on here that act like dogs in heat.

Now, post moar desu plz !

I think if i can put my 10p (s) worth ,as sombody said it's only words on a forum and not throughly a reflection of the person , as in real life.
On another forum similar to this, there were people flirting big time on the threads and all good fun, but it was in the pms that people tend to reveil and tell more about themselfs as i am sure we all know .
The golden rule i think with posting about any subject/thing is to have ones head in gear before posting .Not having enough time to elaborate doesnt help .

I'm new enough to the boards so I haven't really seen evidence of this, but think it's probably a bit harsh to say that most of them are slags. What's this about them all being bet-down? I would have thought that the boards reflects a fairly broad spectrum of people...mingers and stunners alike...and everyone else in between!

When you say boards beers - if you mean the thread where they all just keep on saying "i'll have a pint please tanya" then i think that's just bored people passing the time. Harmless

Yes I have and just reread it.
I still can't see where you are coming from. Unless it is happening somewhere I don't bother going, like the lair of the beer bellies. I definitely don't think most female posters are attention seekers.
Females are just as interested in talking about sex, I don't find anything unladylike or attention seeking about partcipating in that kind of conversation.
If this was a female only board conversation would be dominated by sexual content. If anything I think there is less because of the presence of men.
Your right that it wouldn't be fair to give specific details. I thought you might construct a typical scenario, or point me in the direction of where you noticed this.

I think you're missing the point. Its not EVERY female poster, or forum specific, it's mostly 'New Female User' specific. Lots of smilies and flirty comments in every post, and dragging threads off topic to reply to every male comment. They also make it VERY VERY clear by username or in posts that they're female.

There's plenty of female posters that no-one knows the sex of, because they don't feel the need to start off every post with 'Well, I'm a girl :) and I think....'

I'd say we are talking about the vapid Hello-magazine contingent. Customer care workers in massive call centres in outer Dublin. The sort who go to naff trendy bars like D2, Dicey Reilly's, Rogue etc, people whose very existence is defined by the amount of sh!te they talk on their bebo sites.

Just because you personally haven't noticed it doesn't mean it isn't. It's prevalent enough to have a Gathering card made for it, and that normally takes some doing.

Dont want to veer too much off topic, but whats the point of gathering cards?

I have noticed it a bit, but I suppose I stick to very few forums where it wouldnt really be that common. I dont really go into 'after hours' much, and theres limited scope for flirting in 'animals and pet issues' (at least there should be :D)

Down with this sort of thing Jules. I won't have it. The Chessplayer will not stand idly by and allow Ireland to sink to this depravity.

Allow me, if I may, Jules, to quote Eamon De Valera. If he was alive today, and a moderator on the boards, I'm sure he would have been dishing out the bannings with a rabid fervour unprecedented on boards.ie.

That Ireland which we dreamed of.....would be joyous with the sounds of industry, the romping of young children, the contests of athletic youths and the laughter of comely maidens... It would be a home of a people living the life that God desires that man should live.

    ;)

I've check out as much of Cuckoo's Nest as I can bear and I see what you mean. But the lads seem just as bad.

Maybe dominate is too strong a word, but the Irish and English female boards that I have seen, focus very much on relationships, sex and sexual health.

I am not sure what to make of your reply. "Cuz you didn't know any better" Well maybe it is the same for them? Or is that a concept that is beyond your new found elevation above it all? Maybe you should be a nice boardsie and give them pointers?

Perhaps they to will "cop on to themselves"

Quite frankly the answer is you are all young. Kinda simple really. Applies off boards.ie and in the real world funnily enough.

These days, in these modern times, childhood last a lot longer than it did years gone by.

The answer to your original post is not really that difficult.

Yes going off topic is not tolerated... so don't do it. :)

TBH David i think your wrong, childhood doesn't last longer it is much shorter. Kids are forced to grow up too quickly these days. And its not a new found elevation, as you so put it, i coped on fairly quickly, after listening to advise given to me. The majority don't want to listen. And are happy enough skipping along in their airhead existance.

But none of this takes away from the fact that i find it degrading and makes me kinda feel sorry for them. I'm sure they have a lot more to offer but they feel they have to act in this way.

And at the risk of starting a mutual appreciation society I have to say I very much agree with what you said about these girls ending up with no girlfriends. But you know, that doesnt bother them cos other girls are just "jealous" and sure if men are looking at them its happy days.

I can understand (kinda) this behaviour in real life but not really online unless you're planning on following it up. Hmm its nearly enough to make me wanna turn up at Boards Beers. My god what a people watching opportunity. Like my anonymity too much tho.
