Hey guys, very quick note from Scotland.

Sqaut 115
Bench 70
Dead 145

It was a long and tough day on G'em.

The 115 squat was easy and then she went for 135 under advice from her coach. In a better safe than sorry mood she went ALL the way into the hole and just wasn't able to come back up!!!! She dived into her third attempt at it and despite getting what looked like a perfect lift to me ( and the rest of the hall watching!!! ) she was told by TWO of the judge it was a no lift.....then it was a lift.....then it wasn't.....then it was......and so forth.

Eventually it was ruled a no lift, which nearly caused me to throw a chair at the platform but i kept my cool and sadly an appeal for a retake was not allowed. Basically a SPOTTER had touched the bar..........ridiculous!!!!

After that G'em did what G'em does and despite that massive emotional rollercoaster she tore into bench and set herself a new record of 70 on the second attempt. She then went for 75 but it was just a little bit too much.

By now she was chomping at the bit for deads and pulled 145 like it was a tissue!!! After that she turned to me and asked me what i thought she should do, my reply "just go for it, make a decision you won't regret and go for it"

160 it was.

Only G'em would try and pull something on her second attempt she had never done before!!!!!!! By now, it was about 8 hours since she had gotten to the lifting hall, food had been poor, stress had been high and people hair had been questionable ( you had to be there!!! ) and 160 was just too much at the time.

No with a 330 kilo total G'em closed out the day have represented TT as we all knew she would, like a hot blonde weightlifting machine.

Her heart and spirit throughout the day were inspiring to see and while not everything went as planned it was amazing to watch her do what she does and without a doubt from what i have seen someday she will be a World Champ!

Thanks a million for letting us be there to watch it!!!

So for her second ever competition she had not only made the Worlds, but had ups and downs and faced them better than other people who were there that day and had far more experience!!!

Thanks so much guys!!! But the biggest thank you has to go to Dragan, JayRoc, Seraphina and colmconn, all of whom came over to Scotland to support, console, cheer and jeer (in a friendly banter kinda way ) - you guys were mahoosive fun and I appreciated you being there so much. Pancake breakfasts and pitchers of JD & Coke ftw!!!

What a weekend It's been up and down and pretty emotional, there were some hard lessons learned but I really think I'm going to come out of it stronger and more determined than ever. It's all very well and good when things go 100% right all the time, but it's when things go a bit belly up that you figure out how you cope under pressure. I've already got my sulks and tantrums over and done with now

I'll take a good look at where things went right and where they went wrong and adjust my future training accordingly. I saw some familiar faces from the nationals and got talking to some fantastic people, and I've been very kindly extended some fantastic offers of training opportunities so I get the feeling next year is going to be a *lot* of fun!!

I thoroughly enjoyed the day - it was tough and it was tiring and I took some risks that didn't altogether pay off but in a funny way it was worth it. Even thought I didn't come home with the coveted overall Champs' trophy, my squat and DL records still hold and I got a new bench record. And I came home in one piece - always a bonus - Yay!! \o/ !!

As much as I'd love this to be the case, I'll be back in the gym on Wednesday after a couple of days of R & R - the nationals are on at the end of January and I'll need to get my qualifying totals for the Europeans and next years' Worlds at that in order to compete later in the year!
