Taxi Driver Drinking- What to do?

I got a taxi last night and he seemed grand at first but when we were sstopped at the lights he took a swig out of a can of RedBull. When the lights changed he put the can away again and just kept driving. We weren't going very far and he certainly wasn't acting drunk (giving out about the Law is normal for taxi drivers, right?) so I decided that I'd just ignore it.
Now I'm thinking that maybe I should have taken down his number to report him later.
And that I should have gotten out and found a better driver or just walked the rest of the way.

    What would you have done?

I can't believe all of you think this is a laughing matter-the driver was drinking Red Bull FFS  OP-next time you see this happening make sure you get his number and a physical description so you can call the gardai immediately.

Red Bull - non alcoholic energy drink. Would you be as enraged at a taxi driver drinking Irn Bru 32 (like most of the ones in Glasgow at night do)?

I dont know, my money's on him being a bit simple like the OP.:)

Speaking of the op, can sopmeone track him down and make sure he knows he's being ridiculed for being stupid. Try get him to come back and post a reply if possible. I bet he uses one of either "OMG!!!!! how did you people not know I was joking/lightly trolling" or " my account was haxxxored by my 3 year old nephew"

This is AH, its fairly hard to tell if someones being sarcastic, dense, outraged or faking it. I went for the safe option of assuming they were dense and outraged :D

I would have been out of that cab like a shot, do you not know that Red Bull produce a special range ( just for Taxi Drivers ) contains undetectable ( by Intoximeter ) Vodka in it!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,246 ✭✭✭✭Dyr

I would have bailed out of the jo as its was doing 50 up griffith avenue, rolled along the road while drawing my walther PPK only to come up into a crouch and blow his tyres out causing him to crash into a nearby pillow factory. Which then would explode.

then I'd frown and spit "sunovaBEECH"

I would have taken the Red Bull out of his hand and threatened him with the law and demanded a free trip home otherwise be reported for drinking a high-caffine drink while driving.

The responses to the OP have been side-splittingly funny. Good lads for cheering me up on this dreary Monday morning.

No no no, Griffith avenue, not griffiths avenue.

    I bet you're a taxi driver :)

Kate Moss is a mess these days. Perhaps we should help you draft an indignant letter to the Garda?

Whats the world coming to when a law abiding, upstanding member can't get a taxi without the sight of taxi drivers swigging soft drinks in the early hours of the morning. tut . wouldn't have happened in my day.

OP, Welcome back after your years in that cave, also maybe worth noting that all those people you will see walking around talking to themselves aren't clinically insane, they're using mobile telephones. And they have the internet of computers now too.

The real shocker here is if you check the op's public profile he is a medical student.

Imagine you died in a car crash and this guy reviewed your toxicology reports and deduced you were over the limit from heightened levels of mountain dew in your system. Your good name could be ruined.

Lads, the driver clearly wasn't putting the fear of god, nor giving 110% to his driving.

As for what I would have done. I would have posted on boards. It's the only thing a sane man would do.
ZOMG! My house is being robbed! They is stealing my xbox 360 and Halo!

If you thought it was alcoholic you should have called the cops instead of posting about it on the internet hours later.
