it wouldn't have killed Veolia to have one person there directing the human traffic...it's called customer service.
Like you say, they're humans, not cattle. Most will know the object is to get your ticket in order, jump on the Luas, get off at the required stop, go home, have the tea....
Maybe we could pay for humans to stand at pedestrian crossings, directing people across the road.

Oh right, so maybe if we put Gardai on every street corner, it might remind people not to rob banks.
Yes, you are actually implying that they should have someone there purely as a deterrent to not trying another validator.

You appear to be as big an idiot as your friend.

can they get his address form the credit card company

Absolutely no way, it would be a break of the Data protection act and they would be liable to be sued (i believe)

Who needs change? You phone them on their freephone number and seek advice.

It says you have to wait for them to be fixed. I'm supposed to wait half a day for them to fix it?

Like I said, phoning them is one thing, having to wait for them to fix it is another.

No if Veoila had obtained the credit card number by fair means for legitimate use and a warrant is issued following a failure to appear on foot of the penalty fare its trivial to find you, thats nice and legal

In this case Veoila have no need of the credit card number and under the data protection act you are only allowed to retain information which is actually necessary, in this case name, address, place, time and why the penalty was issued and by whom

Yet again we have a thread about someone who made a deliberate decision to get on a Luas without paying the fare/validated their ticket. That's their choice, they are in the wrong, no one else.

Someone above said that he offered to pay the €2 to the inspector and this "changes everything".

Sure does. Why didn't he just get a ticket on the platform if he had the €2? Because he couldn't be bothered, that's why. Then he gave a false name. Hope he gets the book thrown at him.

Here is another example. The swipe/tag is an electronic gizmo. You wave your swipe - machine goes bing. However due to a glitch it hasn't properly swiped [ cosmic radiation or whatever ]. How do you know the difference ?

When it properly swipes you will get visual and audible feedback. If you don't get these then it hasn't been properly swiped.
