    Freebsd is not Linux.

The relationship isn't as simple as osx being a simple bettering of an older os anyway.

I know but there are more similarities than differences.

It's linux on steroids, with billions of dollars of r&d pumped into it but it's still linux no matter what the advertising says.

I know, but my point is, OSX are different as far as the end user is concerned.
I'm triple booting OSX, Windows 7, and Ubuntu. I cant install iWorks on Ubuntu, nor can I install Skype for Linux on OSX.

    It is not Linux.

FreeBsd is based on unix, and the older version of *BSD that FreeBsd is based on is older than Linux and it is this that NeXtStEp used and is still in osx.

Pulling up a four year old thread to fan a flame war? Thats a paddling.
